Default MK future in doubt

we could lose 6 points 8bo:

The future of Wimbledon will be settled at a meeting on Thursday afternoon.
The club could become the first to go into liquidation since Maidstone in 1992 if a rescue package is rejected by its major creditors.

The fate of Wimbledon now lies with two Norwegian millionaires, the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise who are owed more than £20m between them.

A consortium, InterMK, plans to take over the Dons' running costs and pay off a some of the creditors' debt.

If Wimbledon go into liquidation before the end of the season, it will give the Football League a problem over what to do with their results.

Maidstone went into liquidation during the close season, and their results from the preceeding season were expunged, but the situation would be less straightforward for Wimbledon with this season still in progress.

Why the sympathy? All true football fans would surely want them to go bust - if only to prove to the money men in football that franchising will fail!

Hope they go down again next year, and the year after....

Fair point, wouldn't want their demise to mess up the season for others, but sometimes others have got to take a hit for something that's in the good of the game. What next? Kings Lynn Canaries?

Franchising has got to be stopped. If we ever play there, I'll go, but not go in. Chant from outside and roar the team on. But I will never line the franchise's pockets

Don't worry m8. You'll be swapping divisions next year.
