Match fixing?
Madness.
The FA are investigating Accrington Stanley's match with Bury at the weekend, after both William Hill & Coral suspended betting on the game following "unusual betting patterns". Across the North West, thousands of pounds were laid on Bury to win away, with their odds drifting in FOUR times in the two days preceding the game. Betfair also recorded strange betting patterns, all on Bury to win. Most bets are not getting paid out, and both the FA and Accrington have said a full and detailed investigation will be undertaken.
I heard about this on Thursday from a mate of mine who is pally with their keeper Ian Dunbavin (Steven Gerrard's mate), and apparently this is a common thing for Stanley. If they have nothing to play for, they play for nothing and bet on themselves to lose. Its incredible to think that this sort of thing could go on in professional football.
