Warnock joins Eagles
Quote:
Crystal Palace have sacked Peter Taylor following a poor start to the Championship season.
Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull City has left The Eagles well down in 19th place with just two wins to their name.
Despite kicking off the season with a 4-1 win at Southampton, Palace have won only one of their last nine league outings.
The former England Under 21 boss had only been in charge of the South Londoners for just over a year after leaving Hull City.
"Crystal Palace announce that Peter Taylor's contract has been terminated with immediate effect," read a short statement on the club's official website.
Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has emerged as the early favourite to replace Taylor at Selhurst Park.

Jordan in Warnock hint
Quote:
Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has given a strong hint he will move for Neil Warnock to replace Peter Taylor as manager at Selhurst Park.
Taylor was sacked on Monday after a disappointing start to the season to end his 16 months tenure at the club.
Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hull proved the last straw for Jordan who decided to bring down the axe on Taylor.
Warnock is the heavy favourite to succeed Taylor and Jordan admits the former Sheffield United chief is a leading candidate for the role.
Need a change
"Peter was given every chance to turn the situation around, but it hasn't happened," Jordan told the Daily Mail.
"I like Peter but we need a change. I don't want to waste another season.
"We need an injection of something and someone like Neil Warnock will give us that.
"He is a winner and I am a winner.'

Warnock: This is my last job
Quote:
New Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has revealed his latest job will be his last in management.
Warnock was confirmed as Peter Taylor's successor on Thursday following his sacking earlier this week.
The 58-year-old, who has been out of work since leaving Sheffield United at the end of last season, is looking forward to the challenge of turning around Palace's fortunes.
Last job
"This is my last job - there won't be another job for me," Warnock told Sky Sports News.
"I feel I have got something to offer Simon [Jordan] and this job."
Warnock also revealed that he had turned down several other job offers before taking up the role at Palace.
"Yes [there were offers] when I left, the best part of five or six decent offers," added Warnock.
"Initially I did not feel it was right to jump right into the first job that came along."
Warnock confirmed he will be bringing in Mick Jones and Keith Curle as part of his backroom team at Selhurst Park and that he will talk with former caretaker manager Kit Symons about his future at the club.
"I am hoping to see Kit and I always have a lot of respect for Kit," continued Warnock.
"I am bringing in a couple of people. Mick Jones, who has been assistant in the past, is coming in and Keith Curle too as a coach.
"I do feel I need one or two of my own men and I will be talking to the staff today and the players tomorrow."
