Scunthorpe United
Grimsby Town have signed Dave Mulligan on a month's loan from Scunthorpe United. The defender has yet to feature for Scunthorpe this season, following the club's promotion to the Championship. Mulligan moved to Glanford Park on a free transfer from Doncaster Rovers 12 months ago and made 29 appearances last season.

Scunthorpe v Sheffield United match preview
Quote:
Nigel Adkins' only injury concern is over Ian Morris (knee) but the Scunthorpe boss could be set to make changes following the defeat at Bristol City last time out.
Kelly Youga and Jack Cork may come into contention while Izzy Iriekpen is back in training after his groin injury but could have to settle for a place on the bench with Andy Butler in impressive form.
Blades forward Luton Shelton is a doubt after breaking his hand against MK Dons while Australia international David Carney will be given a late fitness test after suffering a dead leg in the midweek Carling Cup victory.
Gary Naysmith, Lee Hendrie and Rob Hulse are long-term absentees while Blades striker Billy Sharp returns to his former club following his summer switch.

Scunthorpe 3 Sheffield United 2
Quote:
League One champions Scunthorpe showed just how well they have adapted to life in the Championship as they claimed a last-gasp win against Sheffield United.
Iron had taken a 2-0 lead as Andy Crosby (37) and Martin Paterson (61) fired home, but the game appeared to have slipped out of their grasp as Danny Webber claimed a late, quick-fire brace (79 & 83) to level for The Blades.
However, the home side were not to be denied as Matt Sparrow claimed the winner after former Blade Jonathan Forte headed the ball into his path.

Scunthorpe striker Daniel McBreen continued his comeback from a groin injury as he featured in a reserve game against Hull on Tuesday evening. McBreen has been blighted by the injury for 12 months but after being given a new type of injection, which he discovered back home in Australia, he managed to play for 90 minutes as the Iron were beaten by Hull. The forward is now focusing on a return to full fitness as he continues the rehabilitation process.

Scunthorpe have completed the signing of Paul Hayes after agreeing a fee with Barnsley for the striker. Hayes has started all five of Scunthorpe's Championship games this season, including the 2-0 defeat at Barnsley on Saturday. He was snapped up by The Iron over the summer but a deal could not be finalised as the two clubs could not settle on a price. The figure was due to be decided by a tribunal on 5th October but that will now be cancelled after Scunthorpe and Barnsley agreed an undisclosed fee.

Scunthorpe v West Bromwich preview
Quote:
Scunthorpe are likely to be unchanged as they look to maintain their 100 per cent home record.
Izzy Iriekpen is fit and Marcus Williams could shake off an ankle knock, but both may have to settle for a place on the bench.
West Brom are unbeaten in their last three games but manager Tony Mowbray may opt to shuffle his pack.
Chris Brunt and James Morrison are both hoping to return, but Roman Bednar is still not fit enough to be considered.

West Bromwich Albion came back from a goal down to defeat Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park. Andy Crosby slotted home from the spot after Carl Hoefkens was adjudged to have fouled Martin Paterson as the hosts had the lead at the break. However, Leon Barnett equalised from a corner (49) and Chris Brunt gave The Baggies a deserved lead on the hour mark. Felipe Teixeira scored what turned out to be the winner in the 78th minute, with Paterson setting up an exciting finish by pulling a goal back late on.

Ben May has been loaned out to Championship side Scunthorpe on a three-month deal. The Millwall striker has been a regular fixture for the Lions this season, but has only managed one goal in eight games in League One. The 23-year-old target man will be available for selection for Scunthorpe's game at Colchester on Saturday, a side he spent two loan spells at in 2003 and 2004.

Scunthorpe v Watford match preview
Quote:
Scunthorpe striker Martin Paterson could be recalled after recovering from the knee injury that has hindered his campaign.
Iron boss Nigel Adkins is against unsettling his side so Andy Crosby and Andy Butler will continue their central-defensive pairing.
Adam Johnson's good form is set to keep Douglas Rinaldi out for Watford, who currently have a two-point lead at the top of the table.
Al Bangoura's broken arm means he joins long-term absentees Damien Francis and Gareth Williams on the sidelines.

Scunthorpe 1-3 Watford
Watford capitalised on slip-ups from Charlton and West Brom with a good 3-1 win at Scunthorpe. Loan star Adam Johnson (10) headed home to seal his third goal for The Horntes, but Iron battled back and levelled not long after as Jonathan Forte cleverly dinked the ball home. Watford took control after the break with a quick-fire double on the hour. The first came through in-form Darious Henderson as he side-footed home from close range. Just two minutes later Marlon King was on hand to drill a shot from the edge of the box beyond Scunthorpe keeper Joe Murphy. There was some late drama as Watford were reduced to 10 men as Lee Williamson saw a straight red for a poor two-footed challenge on Jim Goodwin.

Iron boss Ian Adkins can further bolster his ranks with Izzy Iriekpen, Jack Cork and Ian Baraclough should he so desire.
In-demand Foxes boss Gary Megson has no fresh injury concerns to contend with but can welcome back Stephen Clemence following a calf strain.
James Wesolowski is back in contention but Elvis Hammond is still out with an ankle injury.

Scunthorpe 0 Leicester 0
A tight game at Glanford Park finished scoreless, with Leicester reduced to 10 men on 61 minutes when Iain Hume picked up a second yellow card. Minutes later Patrick Kisnorbo saw his header ruled out for offside and Matty Fryatt also missed a good chance for the visitors.
