Dowie hopeful on Johnson
Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has revealed he wants in-form striker Andrew Johnson to pledge his long-term future to the club.
Johnson has been banging the goals in as Palace push for a Division One play-off spot and Dowie wants him to stay.
"The chairman and Andy have been in discussions about a new contract, it's something we'd like to do," said Dowie.
"We very much hope that he'll be our player for a few years to come but he has got two years left anyway."
Dowie added: "People may think the grass is always greener elsewhere but I'm not sure it is."
Johnson - who has netted 24 times already this term - insisted on the club's website that despite speculation linking him with a move his was happy to stay at Selhurst Park.
"I am really happy here and I want to stay at the club," he said.
"Things are going well for me and I'm looking forward to discussing a new contract but for the time being I am concentrating on my football."
