Sheffield Wednesday
Jeffers becomes an Owl
Quote:
Sheffield Wednesday have captured the services of striker Francis Jeffers from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old will go straight into the squad for the Owls Championship season opener at Ipswich on Saturday after penning a three-year deal at Hillsborough.
Wednesday manager Brian Laws told the club's website: "I am delighted to have secured a player of Francis Jeffers' calibre here at Hillsborough.
"Francis has spent most of his career in the Premier League because of the quality that he possesses and I believe he can be a regular scorer with us in the Championship.
"We have been looking to secure a top quality striker over the summer and we certainly have that now, going into the new season, which is a really big boost for Sheffield Wednesday."

Hope he does better with Sheffield Wednesday than he was with Rangers. Was a terrible signing for us.

He was absolute toss today, got what he deserves, but he doesn't care, so long as he picks up his £10k a week

All about confidence really, Jim likes to keep the ball on the ground, which suits Pablo and has trust in him, where as Big fat c**t hoofed the ball and was too busy trying to drive him out of the club to see his talent

Laws pushing for signings
Quote:
Brian Laws admits he has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his Sheffield Wednesday squad.
The Owls have lost their opening two matches of the Championship season and Laws is aware of the need to bring in new players.
He missed out on a midfield loan signing prior to Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Wolves and has now set his sights on capturing a defender.
The defender in question is believed to be Reading's Sam Sodje as the player was reportedly an interested spectator for Sunday's defeat to Wolves.
"We had a call on Friday to bring a midfield player in on loan, but he got injured in training for his own club that day," said Laws.
"We're trying to make a breakthrough before the deadline and we've got to try and get in an extra defender in time for the Charlton game.
Knock-backs
"We're in the process of negotiations with a player at present, but it's difficult because the season is under way and that's been a major problem.
"We've had a hell of a lot of knock-backs and it can be very frustrating."
Meanwhile, Laws is also concerned about the fitness of summer signing Francis Jeffers, with the striker substituted after just 20 minutes with a calf injury.
Laws added: "On Thursday's game at Rotherham we left him out because he felt his calf and we decided not to risk him.
"We thought it was worth that risk against Wolves, particularly as we're already another striker down with Marcus Tudgay out injured. But maybe it was a risk too far."

Steve Watson is in contention and Wade Small is back in training after his hamstring injury but Francis Jeffers (calf) will not be involved until after the international break.
Darren Byfield is expected to make his Bristol City debut after his move from Millwall as Gary Johnson's side look to claim top spot in the Championship.
