Barnsley 3-0 Bristol City
Barnsley moved up to fourth place in the Championship after running out 3-0 winners against promotion rivals Bristol City. Late goals from Brian Howard (67), Dennis Souza (72) and a Martin Devaney strike two minutes from time wrapped up the points at Oakwell.

Simon Davey has rubbished reports claiming midfielder Brian Howard has asked to leave Barnsley. Howard, who has scored six goals in 10 Championship appearances this season, was rumoured to want to quit The Tykes. However, both manager and player have categorically denied that the 24-year-old is looking to leave Oakwell.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey says he will listen to offers for Dwayne Mattis. The midfielder is currently in the middle of a three-month-loan spell at Walsall. Davey has hinted the move could be made permanent if the two clubs can thrash out a deal for the 26-year-old.

Midfielder Dwayne Mattis has seen his loan spell at Walsall cut short by injury. Mattis suffered a leg injury during Walsall's goalless draw with Tranmere on Friday night. Scans have shown that Mattis has sustained a broken leg and that he faces up to three months on the sidelines.

Bobby Hassell could be set for a return to first-team training in the next few days. The defender has yet to make an appearance for The Tykes this campaign since injuring his knee during pre-season. Hassell was a regular for Simon Davey's side last season, and has undergone long-term rehabilitation following surgery on his knee. Barnsley physio Richard Kay confirmed that the 27-year-old is now injury-free and is nearing a return.

Simon Davey is keen to extend Anderson De Silva's loan spell at Oakwell. The Everton midfielder arrived from Goodison Park in August, and has made eight appearances for Davey's side since the switch. De Silva's performances have been integral to Barnsley's rise to sixth in the Championship table, but his contracted period at the club is due to expire. However, Davey has revealed that he is set to hold talks with Everton manager David Moyes over extending De Silva's loan for a further month.

Barnsley have confirmed they have held initial talks with manager Simon Davey to extend his stay. Davey's Tykes have made an impressive start to the Championship season, just months after he helped guide the club away from the relegation zone. With Davey only contracted to Barnsley until the end of the season, chairman Gordon Shepherd sees no reason why the Oakwell side should not finalise his future now.

Barnsley v Burnley match preview
Quote:
Barnsley are forced to make do without on-loan midfielder Anderson da Silva due to suspension but otherwise Tykes boss Simon Davey has a strong squad to choose from.
Sam Togwell could profit from the Everton man's unavailability but Andy Johnson and Martin Devaney are also pressing for starts. Striker Istvan Ferenczi remains an absentee with an ankle injury, which means Miguel Mostto will continue up front alongside Kayode Odejayi.
Chris McCann is ready to start following a niggling hamstring complaint but Burnley boss Steve Cotterill must check on the fitness of both Kyle Lafferty and Graham Alexander, after the pair played for their countries in midweek.
Michael Duff and Besart Berisha remain long-term absentees.

Barnsley 1 Burnley 1
Barnsley came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley. Andy Gray gave Burnley the lead after 11 minutes, but Miguel Mostto ensured a share of the spoils with a 71st minute equaliser.
