Rangers to capture Cranie

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers are lining up a loan move for Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie.

Caretaker Rangers boss Mick Harford is actively scouring the transfer market as he looks to bolster the squad at Loftus Road.

Harford has made defensive reinforcements his top priority and he has sounded out Portsmouth over Cranie's availability.

The England Under 21 international is down the pecking order at Fratton Park following his summer arrival from Southampton.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is believed to be willing to loan out Cranie so that he can get much-needed first team action under his belt.

Harford is keen to tie up a deal for Cranie before the weekend so that he is available Monday's home clash with Norwich, live on Sky Sports 1.

Striker Dexter Blackstock has signed a new deal at Loftus Road. The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year extension to keep him at the club until 2010.

Queens Park Rangers have snapped up Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie on loan. As revealed by skysports.com last week, Cranie has signed a three-month loan deal at Loftus Road. The full-back, who joined Portsmouth from Southampton in the summer, goes straight into the Rangers squad for today's clash with Norwich.
