QPR chase Blades midfielder
Quote:
Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers are lining up a bid for Mikele Leigertwood.
The Sheffield United midfielder is being tipped for a return to the capital, a year after moving to Bramall Lane from Crystal Palace.
He made 19 appearances in the Premier League last season, but was sidelined for a lengthy spell due to injury.
Since Bryan Robson replaced Neil Warnock as manager over the summer, Leigertwood has featured in four of the club's five games of the new campaign.
But that has not stopped Championship rivals QPR from registering an interest in the 24-year-old.
With the transfer window closing on Friday, QPR will have to act quickly to finalise any deal to take Leigertwood to Loftus Road.

QPR v Southampton match preview
Quote:
Mikele Leigertwood could make his QPR bow after signing from Sheffield United and Chris Barker is finally available to John Gregory after completing his four-match suspension.
Ben Sahar has returned to training after his appendix operation but Pat Kanyuka (thigh), Gareth Ainsworth (ankle) and Simon Walton (fibula) remain on the sidelines.
New Southampton signings Jason Euell and Stern John are in the squad after their respective moves from Middlesbrough and Sunderland, although John will have to be content with a place on the bench.
Chris Makin is expected to return after his hamstring problem and will replace Darren Powell (ankle). Rudi Skacel (knee) and Claus Lundekvam (ankle) are both out.

QPR 0 Southampton 3
Quote:
Queens Park Rangers' miserable start to the new season continued at Loftus Road as they went down 3-0 to Southampton.
The Saints themselves only had three points to their name before the match - but they made relative light work of putting Rangers to bed.
A first-half double from Grzegorz Rasiak (18 & 45) put the visitors in the driving seat and the win was sealed just after the break when Bradley Wright-Phillips pounced.

Briatore promises Funds for QPR
Quote:
Potential new QPR owner Flavio Briatore has pledged to make January transfer funds available to boss John Gregory but says success will not come quickly.
Renault Formula One team boss Briatore, and motorsport chief Bernie Ecclestone, had their £14m offer to buy QPR recommended by the club's board.
Briatore told the club's website: "QPR are a club with a fantastic history.
"We want to make sure fans understand that something is not just going to happen overnight."
Briatore added: "It's not only players that we need to address but also organisation and everything that has built up at QPR.
"We arrived at the last second and it was impossible to buy players because everything closed on the Friday.
"But now we will save up until January but in the meantime we need to motivate everyone at the club from the coach to Gianni (Paladini) to everybody because we know that finance is needed to support the team. That is our duty and we expect everyone else to fulfil theirs."

I hope QPR in the future can battle for promotion but it's too soon this season.

Gregory plugging away
Quote:
John Gregory admits he is encountering problems in his bid to bring loan players to Queens Park Rangers.
The Loftus Road boss is hoping to add to his squad after QPR picked up just one point from their opening three Championship games.
Gregory concedes it is a difficult time to try to sign players on loan, but has vowed to persevere in his quest.
"It's the most difficult month of the year to get players in on loan," he told the club's official website.
"Clubs are only four or five fixtures into the new campaign and managers are still deciding who should be in their first choice line-ups.
"Players are also sometimes reluctant to move clubs because they know their managers are still chopping and changing.
"We'll continue to plug away to get those targets we've earmarked, but it's not going to be easy."

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Alessandro Costacurta would consider the Queens Park Rangers job. Reports in England and Italy have linked the former Milan and Italy defender with taking over at Loftus Road if prospective new owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone complete a takeover of Rangers.

Queens Park Rangers v Watford preview
Quote:
QPR manager John Gregory will be without on-loan Chelsea striker Ben Sahar because Saturday marks the Day of Atonement in the Jewish calendar.
But Gregory could welcome back winger Gareth Ainsworth (ankle) and defender Michael Mancienne (back).
Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd must decide whether Nathan Ellington or Marlon King will partner in-form Darius Henderson up front.
Lee Williamson is fit to return after missing the trip to Cardiff while Jobi McAnuff is battling Adam Johnson for a starting place on the wing.

John Gregory insists he does not fear for his job following the change of ownership at Queens Park Rangers.
Formula One duo Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone have had an offer for the Championship club recommended by the board. It has led to speculation that Gregory's days are numbered at Loftus Road, with Gianluca Vialli and Martin Allen linked with the role. But Gregory, whose side have endured a difficult start to the new campaign, is not worried about the impact of the new owners. He feels his four-year tenure as Aston Villa manager under Doug Ellis stands him in good stead for the future.
