He is improving on his weakness well one of them, which is his ability on the ball, the first two games he has been running out of defence with the ball. Some decent long balls too.

Just needs to improve his communication and positioning skills.

Shittu is great fun to watch. A brilliant no nonsense defender.

Robson keen on Hulse return

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson says he is closely monitoring the rehabilitation of Rob Hulse.

The 27-year-old former Leeds hit-man has been sidelined with a broken leg since March but is edging closer to selection for the Championship side.

Robson was criticial of his three strikers following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Watford and admits Hulse would be a welcome addition to his squad.

"Rob's coming along nicely, although we have to be patient," said the Blades boss.

"He's someone I'd like to have in the team."

Meanwhile, Robson confirmed both new signing Dave Carney and midfielder Stephen Quinn were left out of the squad for at Vicarage Road because they are short of match fitness.

Bryan Robson is hoping to convince Bolton midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos to join Sheffield United. The two clubs have agreed a loan deal for Stelios and Robson must now persuade the Greece international to move to Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United v West Bromwich match preview

Blades striker Billy Sharp is in contention for the Bramall Lane clash with West Brom which is being screened live on Sky Sports 1 as manager Bryan Robson takes on his former club.

Sharp is available after suffering a broken hand during the club's pre-season tour of Ireland. Long-term absentees Lee Hendrie (knee cartilage), Gary Naysmith (knee ligament) and Rob Hulse (broken leg) remain on the sidelines.

West Brom expect to have James Morrison and Ishmael Miller available for selection after their respective hamstring and groin injuries.

Richard Chaplow (foot) is also pushing for a place in the starting XI but Robert Koreen (eye) and highly-rated defender Curtis Davies (hamstring) are again ruled out.

Milton Keynes Dons boss Paul Ince could shuffle his squad as he did in the first round with Nathan Abbey likely to replace Willy Gueret in goal.

Drissa Diallo is available after serving a three-match suspension, however Scott Taylor (knee), Sam Baldock (thigh) and Paul Mitchell (broken leg) all remain sidelined.

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson could rotate his strikers, with Jon Stead, Luton Shelton and Danny Webber all pushing for starts.

Sheffield United has failed in his attempts to take Bolton's Stelios to Bramall Lane. Robson had been looking to bring in Stelios prior to Friday's transfer deadline and agreed a loan deal in principle with Sammy Lee. However, the Greece international midfielder is unwilling to join The Blades and will be staying at Bolton.

McCabe plotting Hungarian bid

Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe is mulling over buying Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.

The famous club is up for sale and has been contacting potential buyers in search of fresh investment.

McCabe believe the Hungarian giants can be a force again and is planning on galvanising the squad and the surrounding area of the club in Budapest.

The Blades supremo, who also owns a 90 per cent controlling stake in Chinese club Chengdu Blades, has hinted some of United's players could go on loan to the Green Eagles.

"I was first in Budapest four to five years ago," McCabe told Nepszabadsag.

"Scarborough Holdings is dealing with estate businesses and now we're planning to cultivate Ferencvaros. We want to do the same with the club that we did with Sheffield United.

"I know that Hungarian football is not like in the past but we haven't forgotten (Ferenc) Puskas and his brilliant team. They played a revolutionary type of football.

"Ferencvaros contacted us. We don't want to own our own Ferencvaros. It belongs to the Hungarians so they should lead it.

Deadline change

"The Hungarian government changed the deadline of the offer to the middle of September. We're still thinking about our offer, the final price has many details.

"Will we build a new stadium or rebuild the old one? Our goal is to hand in our application in September.

"We may end up loaning players to Ferencvaros before the final decision."

Ze Maria jets in for Blades trial

Bryan Robson has turned to Brazil in a bid to add a sparkle to his Sheffield United side, which thus far this season has failed to shine.

Widely tipped to win promotion back to the Premier League this term, United have struggled to live up to such expectation, in a situation that has led Robson to offer former Brazil international Ze Maria a one-week trial.

The 34-year-old may be entering the twilight years of his career but a CV that boasts 40 caps and spells at Internazionale, Parma, Perugia, Vasco De Gama and Levante, suggests he will not be short of quality.

Ambitious intent

United, who spent £4million on bringing in James Beattie in the pre-season, have made no secret of their ambition for an immediate top-flight return and the potential capture of Ze Maria is further testimony of their intent.

"Ze Maria flew in on Monday evening and begins a week-long trial," said Robson to the Sheffield Star.

"We want to assess his fitness but generally Brazilians stay very fit."

Meanwhile, reports from Bramall Lane have suggested Nick Montgomery is suffering from a hernia complaint, which could prove prohibitive over the next few weeks.
