Hull City
Keeper stays with Hull
Quote:
Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has signed a new deal at the club.
The highly-rated custodian has inked a three-year extension to keep him at The KC Stadium until the summer of 2010.
Myhill's future has been the subject of intense speculation with a number of Premier League clubs thought to be tracking him.
Myhill has established himself as one of the best keepers outside the top flight since arriving at Hull from Aston Villa in 2003.
News of his new deal will come as a massive boost to Tigers boss Phil Brown as he looks to guide the club to a successful season this term.

Hull City have broken their transfer record to sign Wigan's Caleb Folan. The 24-year-old striker only moved to the JJB Stadium in January when the Latics paid £500,000 to Chesterfield for him. However, after just 16 games and two goals, he has departed for Humberside and penned a three-year deal at the KC Stadium. Hull have agreed a £1million deal for the Leeds-born marksman, which shatters their previous biggest pay-out, when they signed Darryl Duffy from Falkirk for £250,000 last year.

City swoop for Okocha
Quote:
Former Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha is set to join Hull City on Tuesday.
Tigers boss Phil Brown confirmed that the club had called a press conference for 3pm when it is expected they will confirm the capture of the former Bolton midfielder.
The 34-year-old watched from the directors' box as Hull went down to a 2-1 defeat to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Monday night.
"We have had talks and there will be a press conference at Hull City tomorrow with Jay-Jay," Brown told The Hull Daily Mail.
Creativity
"I think he is the sort of player who will give us the creativity we need in midfield."
Okocha, who appeared in three World Cups, won over 70 caps with Nigeria. He has been playing for Qatar SC since his release by former Bolton boss Sam Allardyce last summer.
The expected arrival of Okocha was overshadowed by a serious injury to City's debutant Caleb Folan.
Hospital
The £1million striker was taken to hospital after being involved in a clash of heads with Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss.
The game was held up for almost 10 minutes as the striker received treatment.
He is now expected to spend 24 hours in hospital recovering from the injury.
Worrying
Brown added: ``It was very worrying he appeared to be unconscious for a couple of minutes but he was talking as they led him out of the ground on a stretcher.''
Former City man Ben Burgess compounded the misery for his former club by netting the winner in the eighth minute of injury-time to give Blackpool the points.
Meanwhile, City are also believed to be lining up a bid to land Wigan's 27-year-old defender Fitz Hall on loan.
Hall has been restricted to only one appearance for Chris Hutchings' side in the Carling Cup this season.

Okocha completes City move
Quote:
Jay-Jay Okocha has signed a one-year deal with Hull City.
The 34-year-old was unveiled by the Championship club at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Okocha has been without a club since leaving Qatar SC, and will once again work under City boss Phil Brown, who was the assistant manager during a successful spell at Bolton.
The former Nigeria international watched his new club from the directors' box during their 2-1 defeat to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Monday night and Brown hopes he will bring some much needed creativity to his side.
Influence
Okocha admits Brown was a key factor in his return to English football and now hopes to prove his manager's judgement correct.
"I've missed English football and the atmosphere here, so it wasn't a surprise for me to make that decision to come back," said Okocha.
"Phil Brown, who I know from Bolton, influenced me to come here and hopefully I'll pay him back.
"He has given me another opportunity to come and enjoy life in England and I'm looking forward to it."

If he can stop being injury prone he is very decent.
Jay Jay played for the reserves last night, scored a good goal. But did look quite overweight too me.

Hull v Stoke preview
Quote:
Jay-Jay Okocha is set to make his Hull debut after joining the club from Qatar SC last week and proving his fitness with a goalscoring run-out for the reserves in midweek.
Henrik Pedersen is also hoping to feature for the first time after overcoming an Achilles problem, but Ryan France, Nick Barmby, Sam Collins and John Welsh remain sidelined through injury.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis is sweating on the fitness of Carl Dickinson (ankle) and Dominic Matteo (flu) ahead of the trip to Hull.
Ricardo Fuller is suffering from fatigue after making an 18-hour round trip to Jamaica for a friendly against Colombia which was eventually cancelled, while Anthony Pulis is also struggling with a thigh injury.

Brown hails Okocha's impact
Quote:
Phil Brown felt Jay-Jay Okocha's contribution from the substitutes' bench was a significant factor behind Hull's late 1-1 draw at home to Stoke.
The recent signing only entered the fray as a 55th-minute replacement for Dean Marney.
Although fellow substitute David Livermore scored the equaliser with only three minutes remaining, most of the post-match debate revolved around Okocha.
The former Bolton hero Okocha beguiled his new club's fans with flashes of style and Brown was full of praise for the debutant.
Contribution
Brown said: "We did not get the ball down sufficiently in the first half but when Mr Okocha came on, he settled things down and we could have gone on and won it.
"I was concerned we looked a bit out of shape when Jay-Jay came on but David (Livermore) brought that shape to us to pop up with the goal.
"But I thought Jay-Jay's contribution was there for everyone to see.
"He has great ability on the ball and will attract close attention from future sides.
"Is he up to speed in 90 minutes of Championship football? I don't know yet, maybe we'll get to see that on Tuesday (away to Wolves)."
Stoke chief Tony Pulis accepted Okocha played a big role in altering the nature of the game.
Quality
"Only when Okocha came on did we feel they might be able to go through us," said Pulis.
"He's a good player and he'll be a good player in times when they need that little bit of quality.
"The chairman needs a tap on the back and he'll be a credit to Hull City."
Pulis was happy with his side's showing and he is now hoping to bolster his squad with a raid on the loan market.
"We knew it would be a tough game but I thought we stuck to it and worked very, very hard," added Pulis.
"I was obviously disappointed with conceding late on but I was very pleased with the players.
"There's a good spirit in the camp and what we've got to do is bring in that little bit of quality.
"It's a very tough market but hopefully we'll be able to do that in the next few weeks."

Hull City defender Sam Collins is looking forward to playing first-team football on loan at Swindon Town. Collins is expected to agree a month-long deal with the League One club after going over a year without playing a competitive game due to a knee injury. The 30-year-old should finalise his move before the weekend's game with Millwall and is keen to impress Robins boss Paul Sturrock.

Hull City 1-2 Charlton
Charlton moved back into the second automatic promotion spot with a 2-1 victory at Hull. They took the lead on 41 minutes when Luke Varney found the net, but both teams were then reduced to ten men when Ian Ashbee and Lloyd Sam were sent off for violent conduct in the 44th minute. Charlton sealed the points through a Chris Iwelumo strike on 89 minutes, but Hull p | | | |
