Clemence seals Foxes switch
Quote:
Leicester City have finalised the initial £750,000 signing of Stephen Clemence from Birmingham City.
Clemence has signed a three-year contract at the Walkers Stadium after opting to quit Premier League new boys Birmingham.
The midfielder made 34 appearances in the Championship last season, but was unsure whether he would figure regularly for Blues in the top flight.
"I am 29 and I want to play football, and if I'm playing well, then I firmly believe that I will play every week here," Clemence told Leicester's official website.
"I don't want to be sitting in the stands and sitting on the bench - that's just not me.
"I want to play football and want to try and achieve something here with Leicester City.
"I spoke to Steve Bruce right at the start of pre-season and asked him what he envisaged happening with me.
"I had read all the speculation surrounding me in the papers and he told me of Leicester's interest.
"Once I knew that, and that Birmingham were willing to listen, then I just couldn't wait to get here.
"This is a great club and having played here a few times, I know just how well supported it is. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead."
Clemence, who could eventually cost £1m, is Leicester's 11th signing of the summer and could soon be joined by former Birmingham team-mate DJ Campbell.
