Belgian set for Blackpool trial
Quote:
Belgian defender Pieter Collen is to have a trial with Championship new boys Blackpool.
The right-back plays for Dutch giants Feyenoord but has fallen down the pecking order in recent months and did not receive a squad number at the start of the season.
Feyenoord have now announced that he will link up with Blackpool in an attempt to win a deal.
Collen is contracted to Feyenoord until the summer of 2008 but report suggest they will allow him to leave for free if he impresses Blackpool's coaching staff.
The experienced 27-year-old has previously played for Gent, Vitesse Arnhem and NEC Nijmegen.
He also has two international caps with Belgium.

Blackpool v Hull City match preview
Quote:
Monday's Championship clash between Blackpool and Hull City at Bloomfield Road could see three players make their debuts.
New Seasiders signing Andy Welsh looks likely to feature, the winger signed on a one-year deal from from Major League Soccer club Toronto.
Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher (calf) and Ben Burgess (hamstring) face late fitness tests, but defender Danny Coid is struggling with a chest infection.
Hull have record £1million signing Caleb Folan available, while former Bolton Wanderers striker Henrik Pedersen has shrugged off an Achilles injury.
But Tigers boss Phil Brown is without centre-back Sam Ricketts and striker Nick Barmby for the trip to the West coast.
Both teams are currently on four points after three games and a victory for either side by two goals or more will see them enter the play-off places.
The players will have to be wary of any rash challenges as the referee for the game, Kevin Friend, has dished out 12 yellow cards and three red cards already this campaign.

Grayson cools Foxes talk
Quote:
Blackpool boss Simon Grayson says talk of a return to Leicester City is 'pure speculation'.
Following Martin Allen's departure as manager last week, former Foxes defender Grayson has been mooted as a candidate to fill the vacancy at The Walkers Stadium.
Grayson, who made in excess of 200 appearances during five years as a Leicester player, has performed an admirable job in his first managerial role at Blackpool.
He understands the reason for the link, but has stressed he is happy to stay in his post at Bloomfield Road.
"The link goes together with me doing well as a manager, and also having played for them," said Grayson.

Simon Grayson admits he is 'not bothered' that Fifa has yet to decide on whether Blackpool must pay Livingston compensation for Wes Hoolahan. The winger spent last season on loan at Bloomfield Road before completing a permanent move to the club in the summer. But his former side Livingston claim they are entitled to a fee for Hoolahan, with the matter currently in the hands of Fifa.

Canadian Under 20 international Michael D'Agostino has signed for Championship side Blackpool on a one-year deal, with an option of a second year. Following a successful Under 20 World Cup in Canada the lightning fast right winger has joined the Seasiders, after impressing in training and reserve games in the past month. The 20-year-old, who can play for Italy or Canada, has caught the eye of a number of English and Italian teams but has decided to sign for the Championship side after he was impressed with current manager Simon Grayson, the players and the club as a whole.

Blackpool v Southend United preview [Carling Cup]
Quote:
Ian Evatt is out for Blackpool, so Kaspars Gorkss is likely to come into the team, while Adrian Forbes requires a knee operation.
Aside from that, Simon Grayson has a full squad to select from, although he could freshen up his side.
Southend are without loan duo Leon Clarke and Eric Odhiambo, who both played in the Carling Cup in an earlier round.
Charlie McDonald is likely to take Clarke's place up front, while Southend are still without Mark Gower due to a back strain.

Blackpool are mourning the death of their 1953 FA Cup final hero Bill Perry. The Bloomfield Road legend is most fondly remembered by the Blackpool faithful for netting the winning goal in their 4-3 Wembley victory over Bolton. Perry, who made 394 appearances for Blackpool, died on Thursday at the age of 77 after a battle against cancer. The South African-born England international scored 119 goals for Blackpool in his 13 years with the club.

Watford 1 Blackpool 1
Wesley Hoolahan's penalty 17 minutes from time earned Blackpool a point and knocked Watford off the top of the table. On-loan Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Johnson gave the Hornets the lead four minutes before the break when he fired a free-kick up and over the wall and beyond Paul Rachubka.

Blackpool v Plymouth match preview
Quote:
Latvia international Kaspars Gorkss' one-match suspension is likely to give a chance to Shaun Barker at the heart of Blackpool's defence.
However, Ben Burgess is still struggling with an ankle injury and is set to miss out against The Pilgrims.
Plymouth boss Ian Holloway has no fresh injuries from Tuesday's 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, so he may name an unchanged starting XI.
On-loan defender Larry Mabiala has a knee injury, so he is unlikely to make his debut at Bloomfield Road.
