Arrow Hatters take away Currie

Luton Town have completed their third signing of the summer in the shape of midfielder Darren Currie.

After leaving Ipswich Town prior to the end of last season, Currie had attracted interest from a number of clubs including Colchester United and Millwall.

The 32-year-old has now opted to sign a two-year deal at Kenilworth Road to join up with manager Kevin Blackwell and fellow new signings David Edwards and Alan Goodall.

Currie made his professional debut in 1994 with Shrewsbury and offers a wealth of experience that Blackwell will be looking to utilise next season.

"Darren is an old head whose job will be to help nurture our young lads through," Blackwell told the club's official website.

"We had a young squad who lacked experience in certain areas and at certain times in games last year and Darren will provide us with some extra strength in midfield."

Blackwell has also confirmed the make-up of his backroom staff for next season, with his former assistant at Leeds, Sam Ellis, confirmed as his number two.

Former Newcastle and Leeds caretaker manager John Carver is The Hatters' new head coach, with Chris Cummings installed as director of youth football.

Meanwhile, The Hatters have been linked with a possible swap deal for Stevenage Borough striker Steve Morrison that could see Luton keeper Marlon Beresford move to the Conference side.
