Default Magilton eyes Christie swoop

Quote:
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton hopes to sign Malcolm Christie if he misses out on Francis Jeffers.

Magilton has had two bids for Jeffers rejected by Blackburn, but is still determined to capture the striker following his impressive loan spell at Portman Road last season.

However, Magilton admits he has had to start considering other options, with Blackburn believed to be holding out for £1million for Jeffers.

And he has set his sights on Christie following his release from Middlesbrough at the end of last season.

Christie's Middlesbrough career was ruined by injuries but Magilton has been a fan of the player since watching him at Derby.

"Malcolm Christie is someone I have always liked and if the Frannie deal doesn't come off then we would be interested in bringing him to Portman Road," Magilton told the Daily Express.

So's Francis Jeffers, which is why i wouldn;t pay £1m for him. Christie isn't bad, if we do sign him it should be pay as you play deal, as he is too injury prone and we can't afford to be throwing money away
