Kevin Blackwell has been appointed as Mike Newell's successor at Championship strugglers Luton Town.
The Hatters have given the former Leeds chief a four-year deal and his immediate concern will be steering the side out of the relegation zone.
Luton showed Newell the door earlier in March following a number of outspoken comments and a poor run of one win in 14 games that has threatened to compromise the club's Championship status.
Newell was heavily critical of Hatters chairman Bill Tomlins and his board, questioning where funds raised by the sale of a string of key players during the past 18 months had gone.
Now Luton-born Blackwell has been handed the reins at Kenilworth Road, taking over from Newell's former assistant Brian Stein who had been steadying the ship during a damaging period in the club's recent history.
"I'm not daunted by the size of the challenge, I can only do my best and give it a go," Blackwell told the club's official website.
