Stokes: Keane is like Wenger
Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes has likened Roy Keane to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Stokes has worked under both managers and he can see similarities between the Irishman and Frenchman.
The 18-year-old, who left Arsenal in January to join Sunderland, believes both managers enjoy similar tactical views.
Stokes, who has felt the wrath of Keane after missing the team bus for the recent game at Barnsley, is a big fan of Wenger's and Keane's approach of how to play the game.
"They're both top managers and they are both desperate to win every game they are involved in," Stokes told the Northern Echo.
"There's a similarity in that they both will rotate the squad and rest players where necessary for the good of the club.
"Our gaffer is different in a lot of ways to Arsene Wenger, mainly in terms of his personality and his approach to dealing with his players.
"Roy Keane has brought with him that Manchester United ethos of how to play. It's similar to the way Arsenal play and he isn't likely to just say let's stick a big man up front and just play off him.
"You can see that every week because of the way we set out to play. The main thing he has tried to emphasise is that he has brought in players that he thinks will play the way he wants."
