Thumbs up Robinson backing Baggies frontmen

West Brom captain Paul Robinson has backed the team's misfiring strikers to start hitting the back of the net again.

The Baggies missed a host of chances against Birmingham on Sunday, before Steve Bruce's side grabbed a late equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw.

Manager Tony Mowbray has bemoaned his side's wastefulness in front of goal, but Robinson has backed the likes of Kevin Phillips and Nathan Ellington to fire the club to the Premiership.

He told the club's official website: "Luck plays a part and we've missed a lot of chances and that's been coming back to haunt us.

"The goals from the strikers have dried up recently but they can come good again and we believe in them as team-mates.

"Nathan's and Kevin's goalscoring records are unbelievable and we have every faith in them and we'll get behind them."

The Baggies are currently sixth in the table and seven points adrift of rivals Birmingham in the automatic promotion places.

Steve Bruce's side grabbed a late goal to earn a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns last weekend and Robinson has urged the squad to bounce back and stick together in their promotion fight.

"We thought we had the game wrapped up against Birmingham on Sunday and we looked pretty comfortable because they weren't causing us too many problems," he told the club's official website.

"It was unfortunate the way we conceded in the end and it felt like a defeat rather than a draw.

"We have to stay focused on our job because we've still got a great chance and we'll go through the pain barrier for each other."
