Default Crossley delighted to score

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Mark Crossley says scoring against Southampton will be a highlight in his career.

The on-loan Fulham custodian earned The Owls a point in injury time when he headed home his first senior goal to claim a 3-3 draw with The Saints at Hillsborough.

The former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough keeper admitted he physically struggled just to get into the Southampton box for the corner.

"I'm only 70 per cent fit, I've had a tight hamstring for a while now," Crossley admitted to Sky Sports News.

"It was pulling as I was running down (to the other goal), it was so tight. But I thought 'I'm on my way now, so I might as well go'.

"I just ignored everybody, went into the box, and got on the end of it.

"I've not stopped laughing about since, then I think that caps everything (in my career).

"A few good things have happened to me. I saved a penalty in an FA Cup final and I saved another one from Matt Le Tissier.

"Those are two highlights of my career, but I think that (goal) has topped it off.

"Jimmy Glass was famous for keeping Carlisle in the league for doing it, so it's a great feeling."

The 37-year-old says her would consider trying to find the scoresheet in a similar fashion again.

"It was that feeling that I got (on Saturday), that buzz," Crossley added.

"You're running back to goal, and 25,000 fans are singing your name, so it certainly sends a shiver down your spine.

"I won't mind it happening again."
