Default Tykes seal double deal

Quote:
Barnsley have bolstered their ranks ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline with the double capture of Ronnie Wallwork and Kyel Reid.

The managerless Tykes sacked Andy Ritchie this week for his failure to bring in players to Oakwell, despite being handed a budget in the summer.

Although they do not have a permanent figure at the helm, Barnsley have wasted little time in making their mark in the transfer market, with the arrivals of Wallwork and Reid increasing caretaker manager Simon Davey's options at Oakwell.

Promising 18-year-old starlet Reid arrives at the club from West Ham, whilst experienced former Manchester United midfielder Wallwork makes the switch from West Brom.

Both players are to stay at Barnsley until January 1, with Davey hopeful that both additions will prove their worth over a busy festive period.

Meanwhile, West Ham have allowed another of their starlets to move on with 18-year-old striker Hogan Ephraim joining Colchester on a month's loan.

"We have an intensive period of matches coming up and Hogan will give the manager extra options during this time," confirmed U's chief executive Marie Partner.
