Default Mowbray to let duo go

Quote:
West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed Ronnie Wallwork and Pascal Zuberbuhler are free to leave the club.

Mowbray is willing to let the pair leave as he looks to raise transfer funds for his own rebuilding plans.

Swiss goalkeeper Zuberbuhler and midfielder Wallwork have both fallen out of favour at The Hawthorns since Mowbray's arrival.

Mowbray is willing to loan the pair out or let them leave permanently when the transfer window reopens in January.

"It's correct that both Zubi and Ronnie can go," said Mowbray. "Zubi was in between the sticks when I arrived and he did fine for a few games but the situation changed and I felt his confidence levels got hit a little bit.

"Ultimately the decision to leave him out was because of the impact it was having on the team as opposed to himself, and there was negativity too from the terraces.

"Zubi is a first-class man and hard working and I understand he wants to be playing, but at the moment he's not in the side. It is nothing personal, I want to do what is best for the team.

"As for Ronnie, I've had a chat with him and I know he needs to play football. Ronnie has been on the periphery and wasn't even in the team on Saturday when we had two midfielders out.

"This will benefit the players and the club because it might well release funds. We won't stand in Ronnie's way - both his and Zubi's name have been circulated."
