Default Wright joins Bluebirds

Cardiff have taken Sheffield United full back Alan Wright on loan until January.

The 35-year-old former Aston Villa man had found his opportunities at Bramall Lane limited this season, making just one appearance in their 3-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones has had a frustrating time in his attempts to reinforce his squad ahead of the deadline for loan signings, and will be delighted to finally bring Wright to Ninian Park after having shown interest earlier this season.

And Wright, who spent time earlier this season on loan at Leeds, feels he has much to offer the Championship leaders.

"I'm keen to help the lads maintain their position at the top of the table," he told Cardiff City World.

"Although I didn't play many matches for Sheffield United last season when they went up to the Premiership, I know what it takes to get there.

"Even if you are only part of the squad and not playing regularly, you are all in it together.

"I feel that, with all my experience, mainly in the Premiership, I have something to offer, even at the age of 35.

"I certainly don't feel that I'm coming towards the end of my career - fitness programmes, diet etc. have kept me going well, so I'm not coming here simply to sit on the bench.

"I only had one game at Leeds during my loan spell, but that was mainly due to the fact that there was a change of manager soon after I went there.

"I felt that I did well enough on my only Premiership appearance for Sheffield United this season, but Neil Warnock left me out, and I haven't since been in their side, even as a sub."
