Chadwick's goal;

http://creber.chez-alice.fr/goal1.asf

I'm pleased for him, and do appreciate that the move was due to a homesick wife, and recognise that there is more to life than football, and he was right to move to accomadate his family. Good luck Chadders.

Ipswich Town 3 - 1 Norwich City

I: Sylvain Legwinski (40), Daniel Haynes (77, 91) N: Luke Chadwick (26)

Quote:
Ipswich won their first East Anglian derby for eight years at Portman Road, with substitute Danny Haynes the hero for Town in a richly-deserved 3-1 victory over Norwich.

The team from Suffolk had much the better of the opening exchanges, with their Norfolk rivals barely getting out of their own half in the first 20 minutes.

Gary Roberts's shot deflected off Adam Drury and the visitors were indebted to Jason Shackell who cleared the danger from under his own crossbar. Town continued to press and should have claimed the lead midway through the half, but Alan Lee headed over from Matthew Bates's cross.

Home fans were stunned therefore when captain Matt Richards spooned Darren Huckerby's cross into the path of Luke Chadwick who slotted home on his debut for the game's opening goal.

Town rallied immediately, though, and, after goalkeeper Paul Gallacher had clutched Simon Walton's shot, the hosts drew level five minutes before half time through Sylvain Legwinski.

Roberts and Billy Clarke combined for the striker to feed Frenchman Legwinski and the former Fulham man took his time before finishing coolly.

Jim Magilton's side continued to boss proceedings after the restart, and Clarke twice tested Gallacher, while, on the second occasion, Richards should have gobbled up the rebound.

The Canaries relied on Huckerby's pace on the break, but failed to make significant headway and Roberts's cross for the hosts eluded everyone in the 69th minute and appeared to be heading into the far post but for the merest of flicks from Gallacher's glove.

Town completed the turnaround in the 77th minute through substitute Haynes, who had been on the pitch only a matter of seconds before he glanced home Roberts's cross.

Mike Pollitt smothered Rob Earnshaw's close-range effort and Jason de Vos cleared Huckerby's cross as Town's defence creaked in the closing stages, but Haynes had the last word with a measured shot which found the back of the net via the inside of the post.

Bitter much?

We dominated it, there's no one who saw the game who can disagree we deserved 3 points, Norwich couldn't do the simple things like pass the ball, wingers showed a distinct lack of ability to track back, which allowed our wing backs to push forward.

As for the tackle, it was a brilliant tackle by Bates, won the ball hard but cleanly, hence why a throw in was given and not a free kick, it's just a plain misfortune it forced him into the advertising boards.

And how were we dirty? the crunching derby game tackles were minimal, just sounds like sour grapes if you ask me.

Anyone else agree Gary Roberts MOTM? very impressed today, has the pace and ability to actually run at players. And no hint of handball for Haynes this time

Ran and ran and ran and looked like he wanted to win this game, which is more than can be said for the Alien and Huckerby, who alas your views on Lee, flopped to the floor everytime a player got within 2 feet of him.

And is Doherty gay? The amount of times he wanted to hug Alan Lee, i'm not surprised Lee's complaining

Really? He looked slow, sluggish, clumsy and forever had his arms round the strikers waist.

Alan Lee would not of been given a free even if he'd been shot, and, on life support to get a penalty.

Noticed a lot of Norwich are making Bates there number 1 enemy, some clown even sent an email to Middlesbrough about the tackle.

Grow up and stop looking through the yellow tinted glasses, it was a fair tackle, hard, but fair, won all the ball, Chadwicks momentum unfortunately forced him into the advertising boards, complete accident, no way could it be said Bates deliberately done that.
