Swansea list Knight
Quote:
Top-scorer Leon Knight has been put up for sale by Swansea City.
The striker, 24, was omitted from the squad that won 3-2 at Chesterfield on Saturday, with rumours rife that he had breached discipline at the club.
Manager Kenny Jackett insisted that the decision was a purely tactical one, but he has now transfer listed Knight, saying he has not worked hard enough.
The player joined from Brighton for £125,000 in January and has scored 20 in 37 games, seven this season.
But he arrived at the Liberty Stadium with something of a bad-boy reputation.
He signed for Brighton from Chelsea for £100,000 in August 2003, the London club keen to jettison the talented 5ft 5in, nine-and-a-half-stone front man for disciplinary reasons.
His move from the Seagulls to west Wales on a two-and-a-half year deal followed a series of arguments with manager Mark McGhee, although Brighton were keen to include an undisclosed sell-on clause in the contract.
Swansea played Rory Fallon and Lee Trundle at Chesterfield - the latter scoring two goals - with no front man selected on the bench.
"It was a purely football decision, not disciplinary," said Jackett after the match.
"I decided I wanted a different combination up front - we've been seeking the right balance all season, the right players to complement each other.
"It's not always the best players who make up the best team.
"Leon wasn't very happy with the decision, as to whether he gets back into the side, we'll have to see how he reacts and how hard he works - the ball's in his court."

Exactly, why the fuck would they sell him when he's scoring goals? As mr.watford said, he's an arrogant **** and it was his attitude that get him slung out of Brighton.

I think when Chelsea let him go they said it was down to his attitude as well.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins admits he has 'no idea' when out-of-favour striker Leon Knight will exit the Welsh outfit.
Knight has not played for The Swans since October 6, with manager Kenny Jackett placing him on the transfer list in a bid to send him packing from the Liberty Stadium.
Despite an impressive record of 20 goals in 37 appearances, the League One outfit have no desire to keep hold of the former Chelsea trainee amidst reports of behavioural issues.
So far Knight has turned down the chance to join Northampton and Peterborough, whilst Barnsley and Southend have ruled themselves out of the race with Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson voicing his concerns about Knight's attitude.
With over a month still to go before the transfer window opens, and no loan deals arranged, Jenkins says he is currently clueless as to when the striker will eventually end his time in Swansea.
"There have been a few clubs linked with Leon but I've no idea when he will actually leave," said Jenkins.
"Of course, the ideal scenario would be to sell him in January but nothing has materialised so far so we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next few weeks."

I actually rate Knight quite highly, it just appears that his attitude is so poor that it's the overrriding factor, than his obvious talent, which he has in abundence. His ability has never been in question and i feel what a waste, as he is someone with the potential to establish himself at the very least as a good CCC player.
