Why the hell was it taken this far?
Sunderland's Darren Williams will not face a Football Association charge after an incident involving a fan at West Bromwich Albion.
Williams struck the supporter with a clearance in November's goalless draw and the FA requested video evidence.
He apologised to the supporter, who was hit in the face, and the FA has deemed that the incident was accidental.
Williams told the club's website: It was a complete accident. It was never my intention to hurt someone."
