Walton to Charlton?

Leeds United defender Simon Walton is in talks with Premiership side Charlton Athletic, report BBC Radio Leeds.

The 18-year-old is a product of the Leeds Academy and has one year remaining on his current deal.

With Walton still under contract, United would want a fee for a transfer to the Addicks.

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell said: "They're a Premiership club and it's potentially a great opportunity for him. We won't stand in his way."

Unfortunately he wasn't quite ready to take over Gregan or Butler in defence. And he never was a midfielder (where he played two seasons ago). In time he willl be a decent Premiership player, but he didn't want to stay, and at the moment we have better players, so hopefully we can spend the £700k on a decent midfielder.
