Yeah i've heard that aswell, Celtic were looking at him but they thought that 1million was a bit too much for a player only proven at thrid and a lil bit of second division football, so they have moved on to looking at Crewe's Dean Ashton, and also joined Leeds and Fulham to sign David Wright.

yeah he's getting back to what people saw when he burst onto the scene as a 16year old, and now only 19, could be a great player

Brown makes Defoe U-turn
West Ham chairman Terence Brown today backtracked on his suggestion that the club were resigned to losing Jermain Defoe, possibly before his contract runs out in the summer of 2005.
Brown would like the England Under-21 striker to sign a contract extension but is aware an off-the-cuff comment made at last night's annual meeting may have given the wrong impression.
He claimed the player's "head wasn't right" and that the club expected Defoe to leave when his contract runs out, "if not before". However, Brown said today: "I would like to clarify my earlier comment.
While I referred to Jermain's state of mind, I would like to make it clear I was referring to a time prior to Alan Pardew's arrival, in the aftermath of the bitter disappointment of relegation - a blow Jermain felt as keenly as the rest of us.
"Every time Jermain has stepped out for us he has worn his shirt with pride and never given less than total commitment.
"Although he was perhaps badly advised in requesting a transfer the day after we were relegated that matter was dealt with to our mutual satisfaction and it has not had a detrimental effect on Jermain's professional relationship with the club.
"It is not a foregone conclusion he will be leaving us and, while we know he is ambitious to return to the Premiership, we believe and hope those targets can be attained while he is at West Ham."
A rebel shareholders group, Whistle, want Brown to step down and are planning to call an emergency meeting.
The West Ham chairman's salary last year of £54,000 was again a topic of debate, although Brown, who has taken a 50 per cent pay cut following relegation, contends he takes no dividends and gave up other business interests when he was asked to take the job.

***BIG RUMOUR***
He cant always get into the Crewe line up but...Chris McCready has been reported to be on Nottingham Forest's wanted list should they sell their centre back wonder kid Michael Dawson.
Forest are thought to be selling Dawson to Liverpool this January and as a replacement they're eyeing up Chris McCready, according to media reports. 22 year old McCready has had his short career hampered with injuries but recently he got in the side and did more than enough to keep his place. Macca has put in several good performance's which has seemingly caught the eye of ever present scouts at Crewe games.
