Nicholls unfazed by Newell talk

Luton skipper Kevin Nicholls insists the speculation surrounding boss Mike Newell has not affected his players.

Newell was again tipped to become manager of Leicester - who travel to Luton on Saturday - despite agreeing to stay at Kenilworth Road in the face of interest from the Foxes last month.

Luton have slumped in recent months after a fine start to the season - but Nicholls claimed this had little to do with Newell's situation.

"Our dodgy away form was happening prior to the speculation around the manager," the 27-year-old midfielder said.

"It did not cause us any problems, because of the type of manager he is and the type of players we are."
