Latest Beckford story.......
In-demand Wealdstone hit-man Jermaine Beckford played for Crystal Palace reserves on Thursday night.
The Eagles are one of a number of clubs bidding to land the exciting 22-year-old, who has been scoring goals for fun in the Isthmian Premier League this season.
Beckford is also wanted by Watford and Queens Park Rangers with Premiership champions Chelsea also aware of his goalscoring prowess.
The speedy forward played for 75 minutes of Palace reserves' 2-2 draw with Arsenal and will be hoping to soon make the inevitable step up to the professional ranks.
Palace boss Iain Dowie will be deciding whether to extend the trial but he will be aware of the competition for the striker's signature.
"Many clubs are interested but Watford are the keenest and I imagine in the next few days, something will be happening," Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett told The Kilburn Times.
"There's been four or five clubs over the weekend but Adrian Boothroyd is very keen on him.
"Watford would be a good club for him.
"The longer it's going on, the worse it's getting for him.
"With so many trials at various clubs, it is beginning to affect him."
