Talking Warnock wants Norwich pair

Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock wants to sign Norwich City strike duo Dean Ashton and Darren Huckerby.

Warnock is determined to strengthen his squad during January's transfer window as he aims to take The Blades back into The Premiership.

The Blades manager is always on the lookout for a new striker and has expressed an interest in Ashton and Huckerby.

Though the Bramall Lane club would be unable to afford the £6 million-rated Ashton, who is also a target for Premiership sides, Huckerby would be a feasible option.

"We are looking at targets and talking to managers and agents with a view to bringing people in," said Warnock.

"I would love to have Ashton and Huckerby. I want them both."

But Warnock's Norwich counterpart Nigel Worthington has dismissed his rival's comments as mind games ahead of the two teams' meeting on Boxing Day.

Worthington said: "I am taking no notice of it. I'm not interested.

"All I'm hoping is that the two players go out on the day and just show everyone what great players they are."

Norwich goalkeeper Robert Green has laughed off reports that Sheffield United are chasing Dean Ashton and Darren Huckerby.

Blades boss Neil Warnock cranked up the pressure ahead of the Boxing Day by claiming he wanted to sign the Canaries strike duo.

But England international Green is unconcerned by Warnock's words.

"He can say what he wants," the 25-year-old told Norwich's official website. "I don't read the papers, so it doesn't bother me.

"We have been underachieving this season, and we need a good result at Sheffield United."

And why the hell would they want to sign for Sheffield United and play under that *****. Loyalty is a rare commodity in today's game, but im sure the pair of them will stay loyal. If they were to leave, then they wouldnt go to another Championship side anyway

Maybe to get another chance to play in the top flight soon, Ashton needs to play in the Prem and if the Blunts go up it would be an opportunity

Still won't happen tho
