Hornets seal African coup
Watford have pulled off a major coup after sealing a deal for African starlet Umaru Bangura.
The 18-year-old, who can play anywhere in defence, has been trailed by Watford for a number of months.
The Hornets were first attracted to him after he starred at the World Under-17 Championship in Finland in 2003.
Now a deal has been brokered with his club Mighty Blackpool.
The transfer has been set up by agency Wright Wright Wright - who also spotted Bangura's potential during the Under-17 tournament.
A deal has since been struck with the Sierra Leone Football Association and their new president Nahim Khadi has helped negotiate the package.
Bangura has agreed terms on a three-year deal and will finalise his move later this week, but will have to wait for his work permit and visa details to come through before he can kick off his English career.
The player's representative Tony Finnigan confirmed the move was now in place.
"Everything has been agreed," he told skysports.com.
"This deal has been going on for a long time and myself and my colleague Andy Gray have worked hard to get it done.
"He had other options, but Watford have shown a big interest and have now agreed terms."
A host of clubs, including Marseille and Malmo, were known to be keen on the youngster - but he has instead opted for a move to England.
Most Watford fans have known about this for a few months, as our Chairman told a few of our fans about him in a friendly game. He's supposed to be a quality player, will try find some links for you later, as lots were posted on GH, when he was rumoured to join us
