Pompey eye £2m Healy bid
Portsmouth will make a move for Leeds striker David Healy in the January transfer window - but will have to stump up around £2m to get him.
Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric has been frustrated by his team's lack of top-flight goals so far this season, with a record of five goals in eight games seeing them lie just one point above the relegation zone.
Mandaric does not want another season of struggle at Fratton Park, and will urge Alain Perrin to strengthen his striking options in January, with Northern Ireland star Healy sitting at the top of Pompey's wanted list.
Healy - a £650,000 signing from Preston - has bagged four Championship goals for the Whites this season plus two for his country, including the winner against England.
But he is likely to jump at the chance of a move to Pompey, as he is vying with Rob Hulse, Robbie Blake, Richard Cresswell and Ian Moore for a starting role at Elland Road.
Mandaric seems ready to put his money where his mouth is in January and said: "We're definitely going to do some business in January.
"Our scoring record is not good enough - and I can tell you I'm not going to bury my head in the sand. We need to score goals."
