Davies in dark over Nugent
Preston manager Billy Davies admits he is unsure how long star striker David Nugent will be sidelined by a virus.
The 20-year-old has been absent for North End's last two matches and remains in hospital undergoing tests.
"As yet they are still doing tests and they are still trying to find out what it is," Davies told the club's official website. "The doctors are now talking about possible bites and they are looking at all sorts of things. All I can say is that it is a virus and they are still trying to determine the situation with it.
"The lad looks horrendous by the way, horrendous. Looking at David Nugent and because of the season he had last year and then he had a hard summer and pre-season, the lad's system was run down.
"I said to the staff two weeks prior to this happening that he looked a bit sluggish, there was something not right about the boy but thinking ahead we now know why, he certainly wasn't himself."
Meanwhile, midfielder Michael Brown is facing six months on the sidelines following surgery on an abdominal problem.
