Theo: Claridge wrong man
Former Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis has admitted it was a mistake to appoint Steve Claridge as Lions manager.
The 39-year-old was sacked on Tuesday after only 36 days in charge and Paphitis - who is still a director - moved quickly to bring in Colin Lee as his successor.
Claridge had originally wanted Lee to join in a coaching role, and is believed to have clashed with Paphitis over controversial midfielder Jody Morris.
"Steve was clearly not the right man to be Millwall's manager," Paphitis told BBC London 94.9 radio station.
"It was me who had to tell Steve of the board's decision. It was a very difficult thing to do and I know Steve is very disappointed.
"But we decided that rather than suffer the potential consequences of leaving things as they were, we had to act quickly to put things right."
