Ipswich trial French forward

Ipswich Town boss Joe Royle has confirmed he has taken French striker Nicolas Gousse on trial with a view to a permanent move.
The 28-year-old forward is spending a few days at Portman Road after being told he is free to leave Guingamp who were relegated last season.

Gousse, who previously played for Rennes, Metz and Troyes, is clearly keen to take his opportunity in England.

''Guingamp let me understand I should leave,'' said Gousse.

''I hope to appeal to the Ipswich manager because I appreciate the club.''

Town boss Royle admits he is keeping his options open with regards to the player, who netted four goals last season in France's top-flight.

"The lad is going to spend some time with us this week and we will see how things go from there," Royle informed the club's official website.
