Default Keown set for City

Leicester City are snapping up veteran defender Martin Keown.

The former Arsenal star, who was released by the Premiership champions this summer, is undergoing a medical at The Walkers Stadium after Micky Adams beat off competition from the likes of Portsmouth and Reading.

Adams has pulled off a coup in persuading the 37-year-old to join the Championship promotion contenders.

"Martin Keown is a leader," Adams told Leicester's official website.

"I felt that it was important for us to bring in a player with that quality to the club after we received the news that Matt Elliott is going to be out for up to 12 weeks following his knee operation.

"We have beaten off a lot of competition from other clubs to secure Martin's signature."

Keown has agreed terms with The Foxes and should be an influential member of Adams's line-up next season.

No no, hes signing for leicester also for more money. Now he could have gone to reading, but he wouldnt have been playing in as good a team. Wolves offered him 20 k a week, Leicester offered him more, he signs for them. Yet again, it shows that at a late stage in someones career they just cant resist that greddy urge
