Money isnt the key for Bisgaard
Derby director of football Murdo Mackay has revealed Danish import Morten Bisgaard took a wage cut in order to sign for the Pride Park club.
The Rams snapped up goalscoring midfielder Bisgaard on a free transfer from FC Copenhagen with the 29-year-old having agreed a three-year contract.
Mackay admitted Bisgaard was so keen to sign for Derby, he was prepared to play for less than he earned at Copenhagen.
He said: "We had Mo Konjic, Morten Bisgaard and Stern John all on our close-season wish-list and Stern John was the only one we couldn't get.
"I thought wages might have been a problem in the Bisgaard transfer but the boy's been superb and in the end he's come here for less than he was earning at Copenhagen.
"We sorted out what was a good package but also one which was sensible."
