Chelsea youth lost 2-0 to last years fa cup youth cup winners Liverpool.
Ben Shara was not included because was in first team.
Quote:
Youth team manager Ruud Kaiser will be sitting down with the youth team players tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss why they so under-performed at Anfield on Saturday morning.
The highly-rated team went out of the FA Youth Cup in a fourth round 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, and barely had a shot on goal.
Tonight, Monday, several of the players will have the opportunity to redeem themselves in the reserve game away to Tottenham at Stevenage FC, but Ruud will be talking about Saturday's defeat with them.
'In all,' he says, 'it was a good week. Ben Sahar, Michael Woods and Scott Sinclair made their first team debuts. Ben got on again at Wycombe and on Saturday.
'But it is all very good this team stacking up the goals against teams who are maybe not so good. When it comes to the pressure occasions, like Arsenal in the League and Liverpool on Saturday, they have to perform and they haven't.'
A mixture of bad luck and bad defending allowed Liverpool to score a very good goal after 15 minutes. Right-winger Miroslav Stoch was down receiving treatment when the Liverpool left-back fed their left-midfielder unchallenged, and he cut in to cross for the right-sided midfielder to evade two Chelsea players and score.
'After that we just couldn't get the ball forward,' Ruud admits. 'The midfielders dropped off to try and make space, but Liverpool stayed behind the ball and stopped us playing. We got into some good one on ones, but made too many wrong decisions, losing the ball, not passing enough, not beating the man.
'Fabio Ferreira who was coming back from injury came on at half-time, and he crossed with 12 minutes to go and the ball struck a Liverpool hand in the penalty area. The referee didn't give it, but that was the nearest we came to scoring.'
Lverpool didn't threaten either, but with little happening central defender Harry Worley was pushed forward for the last 10 minutes. Unfortunately, Liverpool took advantage and quickly scored a second.
That is the end of the FA Youth Cup now for our second year out of school players: Sam Hutchinson, Harry Worley, Jack Cork, Ryan Bertrand, Liam Bridcutt, Fabio Ferreira, Scott Sinclair and Ricardo Fernandes. For the second season running they have experienced elimination at the fourth round stage.
First years Lee Sawyer and Tom Taiwo were both absent injured. But Taiwo, who suffered a broken leg in pre-season training, played his first 40 minutes of the season in a friendly at the same time.
Team (4-2-1-3) Taylor; Hutchinson, Worley, Cork, Bertrand; Bridcutt (c), Woods; Tejera; Stoch, Nielsen (F Ferreira h-t), Sinclair.

Chelsea reserve squad member James Simmonds has joined Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season.
Midfielder Simmonds, who has also played up front on occasions, has made two starts and four sub appearances for Brendan Rodgers reserve team this season.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Chelsea Academy, having made his first reserve appearance when still a schoolboy.
Championship side Cardiff's next game is on Wednesday against Tottenham in the FA Cup.
Simmonds joins Jimmy Smith, Michael Mancienne and Anthony Grant as reserve squad members currently out on loan.

The three young players who made their first team debuts in the last fortnight are all involved in tonight's game as Chelsea Reserves play their first competitive fixture of 2007.
Fresh from being summoned from the subs' bench by José Mourinho in the last three games, Ben Sahar (pictured) will lead the reserves' strikeforce against Tottenham in a game to be held at Stevenage Borough.
Alongside the 17-year-old Israeli will be Scott Sinclair who took his first team bow against Wycombe last Wednesday.
Michael Woods, who tasted action against Macclesfield in the FA Cup, is on the bench.
Six of tonight's team played in the youth team's disappointing FA Youth Cup defeat at Liverpool on Saturday so have an early chance to put in an improved display.
The six include left-back Ryan Bertrand who, along with on-loan Michael Mancienne, was selected today for England Under 19s' forthcoming fixture against Poland.
Chelsea's second string currently lie in second place in the Premiership Reserve League South, one place behind last season's champions Tottenham but with a game in hand.
The north Londoners are on an unbeaten run that stretches back 11 months.
A win tonight and Chelsea could level on points with current league leaders Reading.
The Chelsea line-up tonight is:
Yves Ma Kalambay, Sam Hutchinson, Harry Worley, Jack Cork (c), Ryan Bertrand, Phil Younghusband, Liam Bridcutt, Ricardo Fernandes, Fabio Ferreira, Ben Sahar, Scott Sinclair.
Subs: James Russell, Jonas Elmer, Michael Woods, Miroslav Stoch, Shaun Cummings.
The game is at Stevenage Borough's Broadhall Way ground, kicking-off at 7pm.
There is full live coverage on Chelsea TV. The broadcast starts at 6.45pm with Kerry Dixon providing expert analysis from the studio.
Kerry will be staying on for a Live from Stamford Bridge phone-in from 9.15pm when he will be taking calls and emails on the reserve game, the first team's win against Wigan and all matters currently affecting Chelsea.

Hoping for a win. Ben Shar to lead the line.

It's 0-0 coming into half time in the Reserves game vs Tottenham, live on ChelseaTV.
I was surprised by how big Sahar is on Saturday.. luckily for him his open goal was offside lol.
Final score 1-0. Very inexperienced Chelsea team.
Younghusband got the goal made by sinclair who had a shot saved and defensive error by ziegler basically gave him an open goal.
What makes it an even better result is that Spurs reserves havent lost in over 11months.

Plymouth have signed Chelsea striker Scott Sinclair, 17, on a month's loan.
"He's someone I knew and trained when he was 10 years old," Argyle manager Ian Holloway explained.
"He left Bristol Rovers when Chelsea secured his signature (in 2005) and we've been monitoring his career for the last seven or eight years.
"Chelsea have let us borrow him now they are out of the FA Youth Cup. He's a great lad, with a good family, and gives me more options."

Plymouth are doing really well at the moment and great manager so if he gets a few games he'll be doing alright... We DEFINATELY cant let him go though, he's got so much potential...

England Under-19s and Under-17s have called up five Chelsea youngsters for February internationals.
On 6 February at Bournemouth, England Under-19s face Poland, and Michael Mancienne and Ryan Bertrand (pictured) have been selected.
As both are on loan, to QPR and Bournemouth respectively, their clubs will have to support the selection in order for them to play.
England Under-17s attend a tournament in the Algarve and play Portugal, France and Germany in a period of four days. Nana Ofori-Twumasi, Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods have all been selected. The games are between 17 and 20 February.
Taiwo, 16-years-old, was signed from Leeds in summer but suffered a broken leg in pre-season and is now almost fit enough to make his youth team debut for us.
International appearances this season at Under-19s, 18s and 17s levels
Elmer 7, Mancienne 5, Bertrand 4+2, Woods 4, Ofori-Twumasi 3+1, F Ferreira 1+1, Fernandes 1+1, Cork 1, Sinclair 1, Taylor 1.
International goals this season at Under-19s, 18s and 17s levels
Woods 3, Ofori-Twumasi 2 (1 pen).
