Never managed in Europe, hasn't managed a club for 7 years, quite a volatile character, can't speak English, doesn't seem particularly good with the press...
That said I think it's probably quite a good appointment, he's a good tactician and can probably lure more Brazilians and comfort the Portugeezers already at the club.
Be interesting to see which players he goes after, and what formation he chooses, the Portuguese 4-3-3 is practically forced on him because of the players he has but at Chelsea with the funds it's up to him...

Me thinks he won't last long.
He hasn't managed a club for quite some time, he is used to manage national teams. He is used to meet his players once in a while, while now as a Chelsea manager he will have to meet his players daily and things like that.
Is he prepared for such a busy life?
Also, don't you guys remember when the English FA approached him over the vacant coach position (before Capello was named). After his first meeting with the FA, he called them back and told them 'forget it'. Why? Too many media/paparazzi around his house, he couldn't take it.
The media will make his life hell.
Me thinks Scolari is not prepared for this.

Very surprised that this has come out during the World Cup.
Be interesting to see how he does. Managing a national team is worlds away from managing a club side, especially one like Chelsea.

Scolari is exciting. It shall be really interesting to see what he can do with the Chelsea team. However, I'm still convinced that the sack of Moruinho were wrong in the long end.

Btw, rumours says that he'll get £100 mill to shop players. He should be very careful to sign satisfied and 'over the top' players like Deco.
.. And I didn't like that he is a great fan of Wesley Sneijder. With £100 mill, its not impossible to get him to Stanford Bridge, eben I'm pretty sure he'll stay in Madrid if he knowns that the club wants to play him as regular for season 08/09.

The football's going to be the most interesting thing for me. Chelsea are probably going to be a lot more attacking than they have over the last few years.

Pleased that we have a manager and I quite like Scolari the only thing that I am worried about is he might bring in Deco and Lampard might leave. Hope he can help with Carvalho.
Can't wait to see who is his first signing and what football we play next season...

I personally think hel do ok.Hes not stupid, and knows what hes letting himself in for...even re the press.Probably a case of 'throw enuf cash my way and il put up with it'! seeing as hel be getting more cash than was offered for the England job.
I imagine he'll still play 433, but with a more attacking mentality things could be awesome once hes settled in,and as long as the defence stays as solid. I do think he will do no better than Grant did next season, but Roman will be patient cos he knows he has (hopefully!) the right man.Grant was a shoe in for the job because he was already there.Wouldve taken too long and probably impossible to get anyone better at short notice and mid season.

Interesting appointment. Track record looks good but you never really know. Look what happened to Paul Le Guen with us.
I think he will do OK, whether he can win the title though I dont know. I personally think Man United will be even stronger next season. With or without Ronaldo.

Scolari Tells Chelsea Stars Holidays Are Over!
Quote:
New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has written to his all his Chelsea stars telling them to report back to Stamford Bridge a week early, and to cut short their holidays, according to reports.
Scolari has written to all players not involved in EURO 2008 and insists that they be ready to start pre-season training at their Cobham training ground on July 7th, reports The Mirror newspaper.
This will come as a surprise to the Chelsea players, who had not planned to return so soon, as they had no manager when they left for their holidays after the sacking of Avram Grant.
Scolari only finished his involvement with Portugal at EURO 2008 last week, but is keen to get to work with the array of Premiership stars at Chelsea.

Already getting them used to his "regime". Sounds like a gd idea, make sure those who are to be transfer listed will be sold soon and so that he can get used to the players that will stay and see for himself what their strengths and weaknesses are.
