As an Italian and having insight into my league, offering a 30 year old a five year contract, when he is a key member of your club and goes to war for your club, is nothing really. Sure his play will no doubt slow down, but that is how we are. Look at our clubs, we have some old players...Juve have Del Piero, but that leadership is just not replaceable.

Bla, bla. We have a billionaire too. In the end, boards are run to spend less and win at all costs. Chelsea is Inter of a number years ago, or Real Madrid of a few years. Spending will get us out of trouble. We'll buy Sheva, Ballack, Carvalho, Drogba etc......in the end, you have to develop your own players. Bit off topic, but I thought I would respond.

Because the board haven't given into his ridiculous demands. Not really sure on Scolari "twisting" his words, but maybe if Frank just spoke up about his intentions to the fans and the media, everything would be clarified. If he wants to leave, say so. He's a legend, a favourite, and a respected individual at this club. The fans will understand if he says he wants to leave for a new challenge.
|
Ridiculous?? Read my thoughts above on that. And for speaking up, he has spoken up to the board. He has stated he wants a long term deal for the past few years apparently. He has been waiting for ever for a deal, but you know what?? He has apparently had enough, and went to Milan to see his old friend. You certainly can't blame him? It is a free market. And likewise, if Chelsea want to keep an unhappy player, then that is their perogative.

Lampard has shown over the years that he is reliable, hard-working, and talented. He's a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room, and has been a key player for us. Why wouldn't we want to keep him?
|
This is something that Chelsea fans should ask their board that runs the club. It seems to me that the Chelsea hierarchy has decided that its their way or the high way in regards to Mr Lampard. Hence the trip to Milan for Mr Lampard.
To be honest, I will be really surprised if both clubs don't agree to some type of deal. The Chelsea management has really fuked up things to the point you have driven away a player, and if he does stay, there will no doubt be bad blood. But rest assured, if Frank does put on an Inter kit, he will be worshipped. And if he produces, we will not drive him away.

150,000 k for 5 years? I think that's a bit much. These things are like a domino effect: the wages are just going to keep spiralling out of control. I think there has to be a point where the Club clamp down. Lampard can't have it all his way. If Del Piero demanded 150,000k a week, I don't think Juventus would hesitate to reject him. Fortunately for them, Del Piero loves his club more than Lampard loves Chelsea.

Fair enough. I do agree that Chelsea shouldn't always be looking to buy other people's stars. There should be a balance, and I'd hate to see older players with a bigger name coming in at the expense of a promising youngster.

Chelsea have been offering him a deal for the past 2 seasons, and it is Lampard who has been putting off negotiations until now, all the while professing his love of Chelsea blah blah blah.

Scolari won't allow a player who isn't committed to play. If Lampard wants to leave, I don't think we are going to keep him.

I don't think the Board have fucked up at all. If the media are to be believed, they've offered Lampard a fairly reasonable contract, one that they have probably been offering for the past 2 seasons as well. Lampard has, up until now, consistently put off negotiations. If he leaves, it will be because he wanted to leave, not because the Board forced him to leave.
It looks like Lampard is trying to engineer a way out of the club. He has put off contract negotiations for 2 seasons, and when he finally is willing to negotiate, he is demanding ridiculous terms that he knows the board will never agree to.

All cool. Personally, maybe him and the board are trying to save face, so all come out smelling like a "bed of roses". Who knows?
I for one hope it gets resolved one way or the other, as my club needs to fix its midfield, and if Lampard is not coming, then we can move on.

Maybe if Adriano was included in the deal as the media suggests, then Chelsea would jump at that chance.
I think if Inter wait a bit longer, Lampard will be yours. I think that Lampard has already made up his mind during his holidays. If he hasn't already signed a contract, it can only mean he wants to leave. Maybe his holidays in Milan were to try out the city to see if he could stay there on a long-term basis?

That was suggested from the begining. He and his soon to be wife were spotted in Milan and made some of the local tabloids. I wish I had the pics....I saw them, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves, but that is not unexpected. They were in one of most beautiful spots in Italy.

I have to admit im less convinced than i was,but i still think hel stay in the end this season.Unless Roman/kenyon chucks in the towel.
If he stays for this season,im sure hel sign a new deal.I think once hes worked with scolari for a while and all this has settled down i rekn he wont want to move

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti claims Frank Lampard wants to join the Italian champions, but that Chelsea will decide the player's future.
Lampard's future at Stamford Bridge has been the subject of widespread speculation for some time with the player yet to sign a new contract.
The 30-year-old has only one year to run on his current contract and talks over a new deal have stalled.
Inter boss Jose Mourinho has never hidden his admiration for Lampard and has spoken of his desire to be reunited with the England international.
Chelsea have already rejected one bid from Inter with the West London side adamant that they will not sell the former West Ham man.
Reports in Italy suggest Inter are lining up a new improved bid for Lampard, but Moratti concedes Chelsea hold all the aces over the player's future.
Patience
"For the acquisition of Lampard we need to have patience. We have the player's approval but we have to respect Chelsea's rights," Moratti told the club's official website.
"His club have every right to keep him

That approval means a contract that is probably signed, just needs to be processed.
I think this will get ironed out soon, but Chelsea board need to come to the bargaining table. Frank doesn't seem to want to work with the current board or your upper management.

If he has approved, that means he's never going to sign a new contract. He won't be wholly committed to the cause and it would be foolish to continue to build a system around him. I say we get rid of him now and start fresh.

I think he will leave soon. I hope Adriano is part of the deal at least.
Lampard kinda made i clear that he wants to leave with his outrageous terms. Either way he wins. However he has conducted himself as a gentleman through out all this gossip and even if he leaves he will be remembered as a Chelsea legend and I will support him where ever he goes. At least he is going to stay a blue even if it is the Nerazurri blue .
