Terry injury fright!!
Quote:
John Terry has given England an injury scare after suffering a suspected fractured cheekbone in Chelsea's game with Fulham.
The Blues and England captain was hurt in the opening minutes of the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge after being caught by Clint Dempsey.
Terry was able to finish the first half, but failed to reappear for the second period.
Early indications suggest that the centre-half has suffered a fractured cheekbone and is awaiting confirmation of the injury.
If the problem is confirmed, Terry will be a major doubt for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia and Russia next month.
England play Estonia at Wembley in a fortnight's time before travelling to Moscow to face Russia four days later.
Terry would also miss Chelsea's UEFA Champions League group encounter with Valencia next Wednesday.

When is Carvalho going to be back? Terry hasn't been very good this season anyways.

I hope he is back soon..still losing your captain is always a problem...especially when the manager refuses to play Alex ahead of Tal even when he is better then Ben-Haim.

It's such a shame what is happening to Chelsea at the moment. Injuries, internal instability, a buffoon for a manager, and a bunch of unmotivated players. The team just needs its senior players - Terry, Lampard, Drogba - to start performing and lead by example. That is the only thing that will lift us out of this hole that we dug with our own hands.

When you have Alex as back-up it's hardly worrying. Terry has been poor anyway.

I love the way they always say Terry will be out for the England matches and they never mention anything about his club typical

Cheekbone op for Terry
Quote:
John Terry has given England an injury scare after suffering a depressed fracture of the cheekbone in Chelsea's game with Fulham.
The Blues and England captain was hurt in the opening minutes of the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge after being caught by Clint Dempsey.
Terry was able to finish the first half, but failed to reappear for the second period.
Surgery
The club have confirmed that the centre-half has suffered a depressed fracture of the cheekbone and will undergo surgery on Sunday morning.
He is expected to have a plate fitted into his cheekbone and could be able to resume training during the week.
It is unclear whether Terry will be fit for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia and Russia next month.
England play Estonia at Wembley in a fortnight's time before travelling to Moscow to face Russia four days later.
Terry could also miss Chelsea's UEFA Champions League group encounter with Valencia on Wednesday.
Risk
Chelsea boss Avram Grant confirmed that Terry wanted to play on and revealed his players believed Dempsey's elbow had caused the damage.
Grant said: "He didn't complain about it at half-time and he wanted to continue but we didn't want to take a risk. For me if it is something with the head, you don't have to take a risk.
"I didn't see the challenge so well. The players mentioned it and said it was an elbow."

Fitness boost for Chelsea
Quote:
Chelsea boss Avram Grant has revealed that John Terry, Ashley Cole and Michael Ballack are closing in on returns from their respective injuries.
Terry recently underwent knee surgery, while Cole is struggling with an ankle problem.
However, Grant has explained that the England duo are ahead of schedule in their recuperation.
"They could both be back quicker than expected. It's very good news," he told the News of the World.
Ballack, meanwhile, has been sidelined for six months with an ankle injury, but Grant has explained that the Germany international is recovering well.
"He's better than he was one month ago. It's important because Michael is a great player - he's a match-winner."
The former Bayern Munich player also expressed his optimism that he will make his return to the first-team by the end of the year.
"I am back kicking a ball again. I assume I will be able to play again this year," Ballack told German newspaper Bild.

Good to have Ballack back, he's a very gifted player, he just didn't work well with Mourinho, lets see if it changes for Grant.

To be honest I think Chelsea is a better team without Ballack. He slow up the team to much.

Cech could miss festive programme
Quote:
Chelsea could be without goalkeeper Petr Cech for the holiday period after they learned that he suffered bruising in Sunday's win at Blackburn.
A Chelsea statement said: "Scans have shown bruising around Petr's hip and side. We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days.
"We hope to have him back playing as soon as possible."
With Carlo Cudicini also out injured, Hilario could play against Aston Villa, Newcastle and Fulham.
The Portuguese keeper made his first appearance since 13 January as a 48th minute substitute for Cech at Ewood Park and kept a clean sheet as Chelsea won 1-0 through Joe Cole's first-half goal.
Cudicini is sidelined after suffering a rib injury in training and the statement continued: "Carlo also continues to make progress from his injury and again we hope to have him available as soon as possible."

Captain John Terry and Didier Drogba are already out because of injury and other players will be absent in January because of the African Cup of Nations.
"I wanted to take him (Cech) off, but he told me he wanted five minutes more to see if the injury would improve," Grant explained.
The result means Chelsea remain third at Christmas, six points behind leaders Arsenal and five behind second-placed Manchester United. "It was difficult for Hilario to come into a game like this, but he did very well, and in the end he made a very good save," Grant added.

FFS!!!
We are so unlucky it is unbeleivable...Cech and Cudicini are injured so now Hilario is first team...it's last year all over again.
We are missing the most influential players from defence, gk and attack...if we lose Lamprd then we will be screwed...especially with the ACN coming up soon.
Hopefully Cech is back asap... great Christmas gift
