Thumbs down Bad News: Robben faces spell on sideline

Quote:
Chelsea star Arjen Robben looks set to miss the rest of the season as he needs to undergo knee surgery.

Robben returned from international duty this week with the injury and the club have decided to send him under the knife.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho expects the Dutchman to be sidelined for a lengthy period and he admitted it was a major blow to lose the winger.

"Robben will be out for a long time," Mourinho told Chelsea TV.

'"For me it is a bit difficult to accept because he played two matches for his country, 90 minutes last Wednesday, and the next day he came here and he is injured.

"He needs surgery and we lose an important player maybe for the rest of the season."

Better news on the injury front for Chelsea is the imminent return of Joe Cole.

Cole has not played since breaking his foot against Manchester United in November and he was forced to go under the knife.

The England international is making good progress with his fitness and Mourinho expects to have Cole back in full training next week

"Joe Cole is coming back and maybe next week we have him,' added Mourinho.

"But again we can never have our best team with every player available. But if I can lose one and gain one, it is not so bad. "

Could miss the rest of the season... Really bad news.

Yeah just saw it on Sky sports, the "funny thing" he complains about not getting a first team spot often enough, the thing is he is always injured. And I bet it was when he played for Holland. Great one more player out injured, just our luck.

Bad news, we need him for the rest of the season, especially vs Valencia.

I was looking forward to both Joe Cole and Robben playing at the same time.

i dont know why jose doesnt just get rid of him this summer, the guys is perpetually injured, yes hes a good player but whats the point of having a good player if hes always injured?and besides to me he seems to be a bit of a trouble maker moaning about not playing or diving left, right and centre, chelsea proberbly wouldnt miss him swp seems to be finding his feet joe coles back soon and i think that they are chelseas best wingers.

Even when he's fit, sometimes Mourinho keeps him in the bench.

He should spend some time doing weights now that he's back in the treatment room again, his injury proneness is ridiculous.
