Who should/will leave in the summer?
I've been thinking that a few players in our squad need to be sold if we want to be a dominant force in Europe and England.
For example we need to get rid of Sheva and Pizarro in attack, sidwell and swp from midfield and from defence I don't think anyone should leave.
Code:
Goalkeepers
1 GK Petr Cech
23 GK Carlo Cudicini
40 GK Henrique Hilário
Defenders
3 DF Ashley Cole
2 DF Brislanov Islanovic
6 DF Ricardo Carvalho
18 DF Wayne Bridge
20 DF Paulo Ferreira
26 DF John Terry (captain)
22 DF Tal-Ben Haim
33 DF Alex
35 DF Belleti
Midfielders
4 MF Claude Makélélé
5 MF Michael Essien
8 MF Frank Lampard (vice-captain)
9 MF Steve Sidwell
10 MF Joe Cole
12 MF John Obi Mikel
13 MF Michael Ballack
15 MF Florent Malouda
24 MF Shaun Wright-Phillips
48 MF Michael Woods
Strikers
7 FW Andriy Shevchenko
11 FW Didier Drogba
14 FW Claudio Pizarro
17 FW Scott Sinclair
21 FW Salomon Kalou
47 FW Ben Sahar
39 FW Nicolas Anelka
If you consider Kalou a winger then we are very weak in attack, especially if Drogba leaves. Get another winger, perhaps giving Malouda another chance.
Another striker is needed tho I don't know where or who we will get them from because I cannot see Di Santo playing a major role in our first team next season.
I mean look at Man Utd they have so many gd attacking options who all contribute with goals: Rooney, Tevez, Saha (if he is fit), Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani, Anderson, Scholes.
We have: Drogba, Lampard, Anelka, (Ballack), J.Cole, Kalou

Kalou should be first out the door if you ask me. Not good enough.
Sidwell i guess will be shipped out, maybe Ben Haim too? Shevchenko might be hard to shift but I have heard rumours he may be off to the MLS, which would make sense. Pizarro is another who might be hard to get rid of, but he has a decent reputation in Europe so he might get picked up by someone.
SWP is a tough call. I agree that he should be sold by Chelsea, but to who? Newcastle? City? Tottenham? I cant see too many Premier League clubs willing to pay £10m odd for him. I certainly wouldnt if i was a manager.
Think you need a new right back as well, so can see either Belletti or Ferreira being shifted. Although is that where Ivanovic plays??

Think ivanovic can play anywhere across back 4.
Id keep swp, he made a big improvement from his first season and i think he can get better.I would give malouda another season but not impressed yet.
I havnt been happy with our right backs for years esp ferreira.Kalou is often slated but he also gets important goals which is often overlooked.
Id def get rid of pizarro, ben haim, sidwell and sheva.Id like to see us get roysten drenthe, danny alves, luca modric and either david villa or berbatov.
If drogba does go to barca id rather see us get Dos santos as part of the deal

Like Kemmie said Ivanovic can play anywhere across the back 4 however I think he is left footed so he shouldn't be a rb.
I completely disagree about Kalou, his finishing is poor but apart from that he dribbles well, he's got pace and he has great close control. tbh he is the 2nd best winger we have atm after J.Cole.
I can't see Ben-Haim leaving being a Grant favourite. Sidwell has done nothing wrong but to save his career he needs to leave.
Werder have already shown interest in Pizarro so would be gd to make some money off of him. Sheva should either go back to Milan as the press has been saying, go to the Ukraine or USA. Not sure where he will go but next season I cannot see him playing an important role for Chelsea.
We paid 21mill for SWP and he is so inconsistent that he needs to go, because his bad is absolutely terrible, and his gd is pretty gd. So with this inconsistency he cannot hope to stay at Chelsea for too long. Tbh I would sell him for 8 mill and hope for more but I definitely wouldn't get my hopes up.
I personally think that Belletti has been quality, his crossing is absolutely sick. Yeah he doesn't defend great but the other extreme if Ferreira who only defends and when he gets past the half way line with the ball gets scared and comes back. Paulo just signed a 5 year contract so I cannot see him leaving, I can see Belletti being kicked out but I think that it would be a massive mistake because him and Cole on the right are a dynamic partnership as both help each other in defence and in attack.

Good thread idea.
Well imo. Let me get few reserve players who are leaving, we can all wave good bye to Simmonds,Younghusband,Grant,Petigrew,Worley,Searle (as a player).
6 players who will just move on, Worley ended up at the higher team, just shows there quallity/
Ben Haim and Pizarro are going, 100% neither would want to stay , neither are good enough, say good riddance tbh, haven't made an impression, aren't good enough ahead of our current crop.
Now Brislanov Islanovic is a talent, cb for Serbia national team, and a very attacking rb for when he was playing in Russia, either make me think he replace Belleti might stay one more year (as we not getting Alves, 95% sure he is going to Milan) or replace Ben Haim, he was deffently brought for next season, make his first chelsea appearence today in reserve , be good to see.
Sidwell will leave if he wants to , good profit we will make on him.
Shevchenko will go. Most probs on loan. 100% deff big loss on him if is sold. but getting rid of his wages is better then anything.
Kalou is a talent, a talent of the Nani,Babel generation. has 9 goals and 9 assist this season, it aint bad, I deff have over swp and Malouda.
he has everything to be a good player, one more season to see if he can step up, if not bye.
Malouda is gone, any where near 10 mill will be good. good riddance.

Really I can't see Malouda leaving, we just forked out 15mill on him this season, he was player of the year in France last year so I think that we will give him one more season to prove his talent and if he doesn't then he will leave.
i didn't know that about Branislav, gd buy then...would be interesting to see j.cole on left wing belletti on right and ivanovic at rb...

Malouda was a Jose buy, clearly not in Grants plans, his performence against Barnsley should what a waste of talent he is.
Ivanovic was flawless against west ham reserves, very strong, threat in penalty box, looks good.

Well I have read a lot of articles they all agree that there will be a CHELSEA CLEAR OUT SALE in the summer, most players are the same.
well the main players leaving for sure are apparently:
Sheva ---> no real surprise played well in the few games that he featured in this season but then got injured. This deal will haunt us for a long time. (~10mill max.)
Pizarro ---> Started off brightly but then didn't offer much else. (~2-3 mill)
Sidwell ---> He hasn't really been given a chance to play and for his sake and career the best thing would be to leave. (~ 3-4 mill)
Ben-Haim ---> Started a handful of games, made a statement about Grant and has been pushed into the reserves for most of the season. (~ 2-3 mill)
The players that might leave:
SWP ---> Personally he has been a disappointment, he was given more chances this season and really hasn't performed to the standard that he was at Man City. (~ 10 mill max.)
Malouda ---> Imo we should give him another chance because i think that he prove himself. (~ 10 mill)
Cudicini ---> Why get rid of Cudicini??? He is a gd 2nd choice keeper and has been very loyal to the club. Only real problem is that he gets injured when Cech does as well. (Haven't a clue...)
Belletti ---> Imo attacking he has been very good defensively he is weaker but still I think that his crosses are gd and he should stay. (~ 3 mill)
The players that are unsettled:
Drogba ---> I don't want him to leave but he seems pretty set on leaving...so I doubt much will stop him. ( ~ 25+ mill)
Lampard ---> I still have hope that he will sign and stay. He is vital in our midfield imo. (~ 17+ mill)
Bridge ---> Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave, has been annoyed at not playing regularly. (~ 3-5 mill)
Also it has been rumoured that Grant will stay and he will be given 100 mill to spend.
I agree with most but i don't think belletti, cudicini and Lampard should be allowed to leave. With Drogba it all depends on him tbh.
Would like to see a creative midfielder like diego or Van der vaart.
An attacker like Aguero or Villa. Perhaps a few proper wingers.
Cannot think of anyone else atm who we have been linked to.

Absolutely right, but I don't see it happening. Instead I see us hopefully buying enough players to make sure we never see him again and eventually he walks away for a nominal fee or absolutely nothing, with everyone wondering what on earth he was doing with us in the first place. Fucking useless.

And his wages too. 60k a week I think.

Yes, and I think Ivanovic, Paulo, Belletti and Essien is more than enough quality and depth for that position, especially when improvements would be players like Alves who cost a fortune and still can't defend.

As per usual I'm not fussed about us deliberately getting rid of peopl. With the exception of Sheva. For me Pizarro and Malouda have something to offer.
That said I see Sidwell, Pizarro and Ben Haim all wanting to move on.
I don't see us wanting to get rid of Maka - he's been excellent this season and he should be next season too. Sahar also should hold on.
I see absolutely no reason for us to be interested in defenders at this moment:
Ferreira Belletti Ivanovic Terry Carvalho Alex A.Cole Bridge - is fine.
Essien Ballack Mikel Makalele Lampard - is strong, perhaps + a young protege (Hamsik?).
J.Cole Drogba Anelka - our only worthy attackers.
SWP Pizarro Sheva Kalou Malouda - Would love to trade this lot in for Benzema, Aguero and maybe Modric.

I agree on Makelele. Very much doubt he will be sold on. He still plays a fair amount of games, and would he want to drop down a level at this stage (which he undoubtedly would have to if he left SB)?.
Has he shown any inclination to get involved with coaching? you would imagine someone who plays the way he does would have a hell of a lot to offer in that respect.
Think this Bratislav Ivanovic has been slightly forgotten when people talk about Chelsea. He was excellent at the U21 tournament last summer and Chelsea have paid a lot of money for him, I'm sure we will see plenty of him next season, a bit like the way Liverpool eased Daniel Agger in perhaps?

Good point about Boula, forgot all about him. How's he done this season?

Yes, he's shown some interest.

I'm sure if he'd have been totally match fit and ready in January he'd have walked straight into the first team squad, so we were forced to leave him out, so not really like Agger. But I hear they aren't too dissimilar.
