More from Uncle Fester

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon believes the club's new training headquarters in Surrey is a key element of developing homegrown players for the future.

The facilities in Cobham are described by the club as a "multi-million pound" investment from owner Roman Abramovich and is part of the plan for Chelsea to eventually become self-sustaining.

Kenyon said: "We are very near the culmination of many years hard work to find and build a facility that is key to the future of the club and will be one of the leading centres in the world.

"Developing homegrown players is a vitally important goal for Chelsea. Cobham gives us the perfect platform for that.

"Our young players, academy and community coaches will be working closely with the first team, this is very much part of our club philosophy.

"To achieve this Roman has invested in the land, the infrastructure and the latest training, medical and other technology to give us the best chance of meeting those goals."

Kenyon: Lampard not for sale

Quote:
Peter Kenyon says Chelsea will not sell Frank Lampard and insists there is 'no crisis' regarding talks over a new contract.

Lampard has been in protracted negotiations with the Blues in an attempt to extend his present deal, which has two years left to run.

Reports have claimed that the England midfielder has rejected a record offer from the club and is chasing a move to Barcelona.

But Chelsea chief executive Kenyon has moved to play down any signs of panic about Lampard's future and is adamant any bids would not be welcome.

"All those players have still got two years to go on their contracts, which is important," Kenyon told Sky Sports News, with John Terry and Arjen Robben also discussing new deals.

"That's why we, and them and their advisors, take this opportunity to sit down at this moment in time.

"There is no crisis about it, it is a process in place and there has been a well-earned break.

"I will confirm we have had no offers and if we had offers we wouldn't accept them because they are a core part of our team."

On the incoming front, Tal Ben Haim, Steve Sidwell and Claudio Pizarro have all arrived at Stamford Bridge on free transfers.

Kenyon, though, is at pains to stress the Bosman signings are not an indication of the purse strings being tightened at the behest of owner Roman Abramovich.

He added: "It's not because there's no money, it's not because we chose to put a freeze on transfer money.

"It's about saying what have we got, what do we need and I think we've got three absolutely top quality players, who are going to be joining us.

"They will certainly make us stronger for next season."

Andriy Shevchenko has attempted to end speculation about his Chelsea future by insisting he's going nowhere.

The Ukraine striker has been linked with a return to AC Milan just 12 months after the Blues paid £31m for the hitman.

But Shevchenko's agent, Stephen Curnow, told the Daily Star: "It has never been his desire or on the agenda to move away from Chelsea.

"Andriy was disappointed with his first season, but he is determined to help bring success to the club next season."

Sevilla have said that talks with Chelsea about Daniel Alves could begin if the Blues made an opening bid of €30million (£20.2million), while Lyon's hopes of snatching Jesus Navas have been dashed.

The Andalucian club are ready to play tough in order to hang on to their prize assets and have set the bar high for the Blues, according to AS.

Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Alves, but will have to increase an opening bid of €25million (£16.8million) to even make the Sevilla president, Jose Maria del Nido listen.

"If we receive a bid of €30m then we could start to talk," he said.

While Alves is still a big part of the club's plans, Sevilla believe that he could be sacrificed if Chelsea were ready to pay such a huge sum.

In recent seasons, the current Uefa Cup holders have sold Julio Baptista, Jose Antonio Reyes and Sergio Ramos and have continued to thrive.

One player that will certainly not be leaving the club this summer though

Great player, but i dont think Chelseas style of play would get the best from him,the full backs arent exactly given license to be creative.

tbh he is a great attacking full back but I don't think that he can defend that well so that is why I doubt we would get him also that price is just ridiculous.

Default Uncle Festers astonishment at Champions spending

Quote:
Chelsea chief Peter Kenyon has hit out at Manchester United's mega spending this summer.

Kenyon said: "I'm astonished at how much they've spent.

"We've worked our way through our own list of targets, but most haven't cost a penny in transfer fees.

"Splashing out huge amounts is no guarantee of winning titles. We believe in the team we've got here, and we do not want to go around spending £100million every year.

"Losing the title and going out of the Champions League semi-final on penalties last season has provided us with an extra motivation for this coming campaign."

Chelsea offer players, cash for Tottenham's Chimbonda

Quote:
Chelsea are ready to make a cash-plus-players offer to Tottenham for fullback Pascal Chimbonda.

The Mirror says Chimbonda will attract a bid from Chelsea should Sevilla reject their final offer for Daniel Alves.

Should Sevilla refuse to buckle, Chelsea will move for 29 year-old Frenchman Chimbonda by offering Shaun Wright-Phillips and Glen Johnson as possible makeweights.

Chimbonda joined Spurs last summer from Wigan for £6million, but is now valued at double that.
I wonder why they want Chimbonda in the first place...

Real Madrid want Chelsea's Robben by next week

Quote:
Real Madrid chiefs are keen to close the signing of Chelsea winger Arjen Robben next week.

AS says Real management are planning for Robben to undergo his medical next week and be presented to the local media.

Asked about new contract talks with Chelsea, Robben told Sky Sports News: "I haven't signed a new contract yet, things haven't gone really well, but we'll see what the future brings."
