Chelsea After Hertha Berlin's Pantelic - Report
Quote:
Chelsea After Hertha Berlin's Pantelic - Report According to reports in ‘The Times’ Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is lining up a surprise £2.7 million move for Hertha Berlin striker Marko Pantelic.
Chelsea After Hertha Berlin's Pantelic - Report
Pantelic has refused to comment to the German press, but admitted to Serbian paper ‘Blic’ that "Chelsea came to watch the game against Finland.
"They have been to watch me before this season at Hertha," he revealed.
"I didn’t say anything before as I just wanted to finish the season well, but more for the team than for the manager."
Pantelic is apparently disillusioned with life in Berlin after being publicly criticised by Manger Dieter Hoeneß, who accused the Serbian international of being a money-grabber.
"Playing well for half a season is not good enough," Hoeneß had declared. "I spoke with him three times because he was demanding more money and having his head turned by advisors.
"The fourth time I told him I would be going public."
Hertha’s top-scorer hit 14 goals last season - 10 of which came in the first half of the season, before the winter break.
He admitted: "Chelsea are a great club, with superb players and the best structure in the world.
"It is an honour that Mourinho has shown an interest in me. I have always said that one day I’d like to play in the Premier league.
Pantelic would face stiff competition at Stamford Bridge, with Didier Drogba, Andrii Shevchenko, Salomon Kalou and Claudio Pizarro already at the club. Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to be monitoring the Serbian striker.

Portuguese ace England bound?
Chelsea target Miguel's agent has revealed that the Portuguese defender has been offered moves to the Premiership.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and London rivals Arsenal have both been frequently linked with moves to sign the Valencia full back over the last six months.
Miguel is one of the highest rated defenders in Europe after a string of impressive performances for both club and country last season but he is under contract at Valencia until June 2010 and the Spanish side would demand a big transfer fee if they were to sell one of their prize assets.
Paulo Barbosa, Miguel's agent, told the Daily Telegraph: "Miguel has some big offers, including some from England, to leave Valencia this summer but it depends on the club.
"The offers are from great clubs, but there is a big problem that makes any deal difficult and that is the high price that Valencia have demanded."

Chelsea linked to Ze Castro
Quote:
The Portuguese press has reported that Chelsea are interested in Atletico Madrid central defender Jose Ze Castro.
The 23-year-old is regarded as a promising new talent and reports in Portuguese newspaper Record say that Atletico have rejected an offer from Blues boss Jose Mourinho in recent weeks but the Spanish club have not reacted to the story.
Ze Castro moved to La Liga in summer 2006 and is contracted to Atletico until June 2011.
He has represented Portugal at both U20 and U21 level.

Benni 'flattered' by Chelsea talk
Quote:
Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy admits he is flattered to be linked with Chelsea as speculation mounts with regards his future.
"I am very flattered to be linked with clubs like Chelsea and West Ham, with great history and both are great teams in the Premier League," he told Sky Sports News.
"Like I said, I've got a contract and I am here to serve a duty to my club that I am contracted at.
"But if the opportunity does come to go and play for a team where you can move up a level and play Champions League football, that will always be my dream.
"That is always what I strive towards as a player, to play at the highest level.
"If that opportunity occurs to go and play for a team like that, then I would love for my management to look at the possibility and look in their heart to make it possible to make a move like that."

Chelsea have been very quiet. Is it true that Mourinho has no money to spend because Abramovich has told him that he's had enough and that he now has to deliver the Champions League Trophy on what he has already been provided with ????
The African Cup of Nations could well be your downfall this season if you do not sign some players to fill in for those who are going away in January.

It's really rather hard to say exactly why he has no money to spend. From a business point of view it makes sense and Jose has said he just wanted squad players, which is what we are getting.
As far as ACN cover is concerned, we're almost done.

If Lyon expect to get £17M for Malouda then they can forget about selling him.I really doubt any club will pay that much.It must be a desperate one...Like West Ham...

Drogba on his way?
Didier Drogba has stunned Chelsea chiefs after admitting he doesn't know if he will start the season at Stamford Bridge.
Drogba, 29, told The Sun: "You want to know if I will still return to Chelsea? I will reply to that when I am ready. For now I am having a deserved vacation. I love the English league and may not be in a hurry to leave England if you insist.
"But it's difficult to really predict what I want to do in the next week. I have been working hard and would love to win the Champions League with Chelsea. But, for now, let's just wait and see."
Drogba, who bagged 33 goals last season, said he is torn between staying and taking on new challenges in Italy or Spain.
The Ivory Coast star admitted: "I'm at the last big turning point of my career.
"It's time for one final big choice: 'Should I stay or should I go?'
"I am tempted to discover another world and to see what footballing life is like outside England."

 lets hope he goes!

Drogba rejects Milan talk/ exit talk
Didier Drogba has rejected rumours that he could leave Chelsea this summer.
The striker's future has been the subject of conjecture this summer with Milan reported to be lining up a move for his signature.
However, last season's top goalscorer insists he is committed to Chelsea and is focused on helping them regain the Premier League title from Manchester United this year.
"Each summer there is speculation about my exit to other big clubs but I tell you this is not true," Drogba told the News of the World.
