Damien Duff is out of Chelsea's Champions League clash with Barcelona on Wednesday after failing to recover from a knee injury.
On the plus side, manager Jose Mourinho will be able to play defender William Gallas (groin) and striker Didier Drogba (thigh) after they recovered from their respective knocks.
Duff and Gallas (groin) both suffered their injuries in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat by Newcastle on Sunday.
Mourinho said: "We have one more session but I think Drogba will play, Gallas will play but Duff will be almost impossible to play.
"Drogba trained yesterday with no problems and will do the same today. Gallas feels he can play and wants to play. We are protecting him still but he will be okay to play.
"But Duff is almost impossible because he cannot run and his injury is very painful. So he is out."
Drogba, Chelsea's £24million centre-forward, has missed the last three weeks through injury.
