Brown: Celtic must win title to save season

Quote:
Scott Brown insists he is confident Celtic can salvage their season by retaining the Scottish Premier League.
Despite trailing Rangers in second spot, the Scotland midfielder says the destination of the title remains in their hands.

"If we win every game, we win the league," Brown told the Celtic View.

"I know that sounds simple, but we're determined to finish with a bang and make sure it's us who are celebrating at the end of the season."

Darren Mackie's goal for Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Tuesday night dumped the holders out of the Scottish Cup.

And manager Gordon Strachan's attempts to gain ground on table-toppers Rangers suffered a blow with a draw against Dundee United in their last league match.

That leaves Celtic three points adrift of Rangers, who also have a game in hand.

However, Brown believes the three remaining matches against the Ibrox side will prove pivotal to the destination of the championship trophy.

"With nine points up for grabs, the derbies are going to be vital and we want to get off to a good start by winning at Ibrox," said Brown.

Can Celtic overtake Rangers in the home straight?

Owing to fixture re-scheduling Celtic will travel back to Govan for their next meeting on 29 March.

"We need to go out there and beat Rangers and show that we are aiming to retain the title," he added.

And Brown said the team has a point to prove after the 3-0 defeat at the home of their rivals in October.

"Since that last game the team has changed a lot and the manager will have a lot more options than he did that day," he said.

"Hopefully, he will be able to field the team he wants and we can go out and do the business."
