Lucas ready to lead Brazilian charge
Quote:
The year 2006 saw Lucas break new ground. He inspired Gremio to 2007 Copa Libertadores qualification on their return to the Brazilian top flight, became the youngest ever recipient of Placar Magazine's Golden Ball, awarded to the domestic championship's top performer, and earned a first call-up to the senior Brazil squad.
Surpassing such a profitable 12 months was always going to be an arduous task for the all-action midfielder, however, having already skippered his country to glory at the 2007 South American U-20 Championship and helped his club make a positive start to the new season, he believes this goal is within his reach.
That said, Lucas is aware that his mission rests abundantly on one factor: whether or not he can lead the Seleção to gold at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007, which begins on 30 June.

For all you with tickets in Ottawa and Montreal, Anderson has been referred to as the next "Ronaldinho". He also was the reason Porto was able to let Diego go to Werder Bremen. Sounds like he wants to be in Canada. Incidentally, Anderson was the Golden Ball winner at the last U-17 WC despite being injured for the final against Mexico.
Anderson: “I’m Staying With FC Porto”
Back to full match fitness after nearly five months in dry dock, coveted Brazilian playmaker Anderson is committed to staying at FC Porto despite many clubs seeing the player as the perfect addition to their squads for next season.
Quote:
|
“I’m young and not in a hurry. I’m very happy in Portugal and don’t see a reason to leave right now”, he explained to Brazil’s Globo TV. “My time in Europe has enriched my game, especially in tactical terms as I’ve learned how a forward should mark.”
|
Quote:
|
“Everybody helped in getting me adapted to the city, life in Portugal and football in Europe and I don’t have any plans to leave. I really feel that I’ve still got many things to do at FC Porto”, he underlined before making reference to the Under-20 World Championship.
|
Several top-flight clubs have been linked with a move to sign the player who arrived from Brazilian club Grêmio with the label of rising star - and has proved that wasn't an exaggeration. Gifted with a precise touch and natural atacking bent to his game, Anderson replaced unsettled fellow Brazilian number 10 Diego who fell out with former Coach Adriaanse and left for Werder Bremen.
The competition kicks off this summer in Canada on the 30th of June 2007 and Anderson, despite having to take a chunk out of his holidays, wants to be there. “I’m always honoured to wear the national shirt and am looking forward to helping my country out in Canada"

Here is the statement:
Quote:
|
"The excitement has been unbelievable,” says Peter Montopoli, National Event Director, FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007. “With less than two months to go, this is quickly becoming the most anticipated event on Canadian soil. These Games will feature some of the best U-20 players in the world. The FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007 will be the ticket to have this summer.”

It will not be confirmed yet til the week before the Games.
I know Portugal's starting squad since I know the background. Canada has a Good team -- Andrea Lombardo is there best prospect.

The call ups are more less known by this point though? In the recent friendly's, who have Brasil or Argentina played? I might get tickets for those teams, since Juve will probably sign a youngster from 1 of them.
