It's about time we beat some team at a international level.
Good to see Atiba scoring, he is our best player.

Canada splits U-20 series with Scotland
The men’s U-20 national team split their two-game series with Scotland. The young Canucks lost 1:2 on Tuesday night in Victoria at the Royal Athletic Park after winning the first game 3:1 on Saturday night in Coquitlam.
Quote:
|
“When you look at the whole series, it was good that we got a result against Scotland,” says Jaime Peters. “Now we need to build towards Argentina.”
|
Good luck against Argentina. I hope you don't Get your asses handed to you in a platter.

This is what Stephen hart has to say about Canada victory over Bermuda.
Quote:
'We finished with three goals at the half, but it could have easily been more,' says coach Stephen Hart. 'We could have been a little more ruthless in front of the goal. Perhaps on another day, with a little more composure, it could have been a greater score.'
Canada concluded a one-week training camp in Bermuda before today’s friendly. The score flattered the hosts who rarely threatened Canadian goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld.
'The best part of the camp was to work together for an extended period,' says Hart.

Gerry Dobson Blog:
Quote:
Too little, too late?
Despite a new CEO, it's business as usual for the Canadian Soccer Association
I have a lot of questions this week, but I don't have too many answers.
We'll start with the biggie. I'm more than a little bewildered that the Canadian Soccer Association targeted March 31st to name Canada’s new men’s coach, only to move it back three weeks because several board members were unavailable for a meeting.
That doesn't sit right. They'd agreed upon the date, then suddenly they can't find the time to approve the most important decision this organization will make this year. It’s already way too late.
They need to adopt the Toronto FC slogan "All for One," because it seems the CSA is still heading in several directions at the same time with too many conflicting agendas spoiling the plot—which means they're going nowhere. A little birdie also tells me the new CEO is a businessman, and not a soccer guy. I think I like that.

We lose another player to Albania -- it's no surprise to me.

MARTIN NASH: "I PREFER STEPHEN HART"
Nash's hopes rest on Hart
Nash has earned 32 caps, and scored two goals, in a Canada jersey, but he wasn't selected for national team games when Frank Yallop was head coach of the side from Feb. 5, 2004 to his resignation on June 7, 2006. Citing underfunding of the national team program, Yallop was signed by Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy as their bench boss last July 6.
Hart replaced Yallop as Canada's interim head coach last July 12, and called up Nash to play in two friendly international games -- against host Jamaica last Aug. 10 in Kingston and against host Bermuda on March 25 in Hamilton. Nash played a combined 88 minutes in the two games and assisted on striker Tomasz Radzinski's insurance goal in Canada's 3-0 win over Bermuda.

CANADA LACKING DIRECTION -- SOURCE
Canadian Player speaks out:
Quote:
|
"Definitely this is frustrating for the players, coaches and fans," said Canadian senior men's team midfielder Julian de Guzman of Toronto, who plays for Spanish La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna
|
Quote:
|
"Our governing body is a completely dysfunctional family right now, the situation is a complete mess," said one high ranking senior soccer official who refused to be identified. "If people think it was bad in the past they should have a look now. Colin Linford tried to ram home the Simoes hiring but the board was always against him on this and had indicated so."

CSA is a disgrace for not going far in hiring a credible coach. Dale Mitchell is not the answer. The old saying in canada is we produce better hockey players then soccer athletes. It's so sad that we haven't made strides in our product. Everytime I see this time they disappoint.
I had a few things to say about Edgar, Who now I see is overrated. No offensive flare whatsoever and not even a dime of patience. I hope Giuseppe Salvano is ready cause he's training with my cousin and if he doesn't get called up for the U16 squad then you know the CSA is shite.

You can go to the OSA centre in the winter time and see all kinds of players that had better first touches than some of these players. Player selection is based on big strong and fast as appose to skill level. Some things never change.

I agree, My cousin trains in florida. He travels at the SOC academy and there is only a limited amount of players there, It's expensiv but worth it. I also do my best in keeping him conditioned. I think it's important these players work for the full 90.
I think canada should go that route. Open up facilities and try to implement academies that focus on all those things. I don't think that will happen cause the CSA would think that has no barring and the cost would be taxing.

I was listening to Paul Dolan yesterday and he was saying the skill level of many Canadian kids was so low they had trouble controlling the ball and passing the ball over five yards.

Who's Dolan????
He doesn't know shite. They played lie an amateur team with no chemistry. it comes down to poor coaching. Not learning the fundamentals. Edgar was supposes to be there go-getter, run in the centre and create or pitch the long balls -- he was doing that. Also, Where is our attack???? we need more speed upfront. Peters has potential but can be inconsistent at times. Even Lombardo looked lost, We had so many chances to score but lack the finishing touch and that's because of poor communication and not praticing well.

Dolan is a former CNT. and CSL. Goalkeeper and was color commentator for C.B.C. on U-20 Tournament.
I think Canada and Portugal were too timid during the Tournament playing with only one striker up. Why not go for it and try to score some goals? Another thing I would like to have seen is an element of ruthlessness in their games and not stand for so much nonsense.

They lacked finishing. They had the touches but in this tourney the likes of Brazil, Portugal & Spain are out because they took risks, made some flashy plays and underestimated their opponents.
Canada just needs to practice more in finishing there shots. I can count how many chances they had to score and it was more then10 in a game.
