Default Mauri's Lazio crisis talks

Mauri's Lazio crisis talks Monday 3 March, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lazio midfielder Stefano Mauri met with President Claudio Lotito today to express his anger at being left out of Delio Rossi’s first-team plans.

The former Udinese man has made 44 appearances for the Biancocelesti since arriving in 2006, but has fallen out of favour recently after reported tensions between himself and Rossi.

With six Azzurri caps to his name, Mauri had expected to be an integral cog this term and has become frustrated by his lack of playing time.

A meeting between his agent Tiziano Gonzaga and Lotito failed to give the 28-year-old the reassurances he needed and he demanded to meet with the Aquile chief in person.

There is widespread speculation concerning unrest in the Lazio camp after a highly disappointing season.

Guglielmo Stendardo left for Juventus on loan after a public row with Rossi and dressing room morale is said to be poor.

Rossi’s position is under jeopardy with sources already suggesting possible replacements in the summer, including PSG boss Paul Le Guen and former Palermo tactician Stefano Colantuono

It was obvious that he wasn't working in the lineup, and the coach has the right to shake things up a bit.
